Bike history

Post by breakerm »

So come on people what has been your bike history....

My first bike when i was about 10 was a kawasaki kx80 but didnt really get to ride it..
my old man broke his leg on it messing about when i was at school that soon got sold to my dissapointment
a few mates had few scramblers that we used to wombles about over the fields on.

when i was 16 i got a italjet formula 50 scootaaahhh..... i was the quickest kid on the block.. lol

then passed car test and bike went out the window for a few years..

had a wr450f really fun thing the front didnt wanna stop lifting.. :D :D :D

then did my bike test and brought a Gsxr 600k1 with a custom paint job pipe rear sets it was a peach of a bike..till i had a big off when a cab driver pulled right into my path and i had to jump off or i would have been in his back seat... 8O 8O 8O 8O

after a year or so off bikes went and got a cbr900rr fox eye a real hooligan of a bike...until scaffolding tubes started falling off the back of a lorry and smashed it to bits.... which i brought back and streetfightered it...

and now i have come over to the dark side of V-twins with the storm... and i gotta say i am loving them.. the noise in unreal traffic parts like the sea for moses.. and the torque..

I passed my test on a BSA Bantam in 1963 (yeh that's right i'm 68 years old 69 in November) and went straight out the next day and px for a Triumph Bonneville in the days when no helmet was required.I have never been without a bike since then.Of the many bikes I have owned the most memorable ones being,Jubilee Bonneville,BSA Spitfire,BSA Gold Star, about four Bonnevilles. The modern bikes I've had Z1,FJ1100,FJ1200,CB900,H/D Sportster 1982 anniversary model (25 years of the Sportster)ZZR1100(loved that bike what a rush on the 1990 model fitted with ZXR 750 carb tops)and the most recent bikes have been Suzuki Bandit 1200 that I streetfightered,ZX9 with big bore kit taking it to 986cc and now the Firestorm.Of all the bikes I have owned the best bike I think was the ZZR1100.So many years (and broken bones)later I am still riding on two wheels, but I have promised the good lady that when I reach 70 years old my crash helmet will be hung up for good,so the most modified bike that I have ever owned will be going. So next year around this time it will be the end of an era for me.

forgot a couple of bikes,Norton Dominator with clip on bars, i thought I was the bee's knees on that going back to the Busy Bee,Ace Café and the 59 club ( google them if you don't know about them).I wanted a new bike so I traded in my CB900 with Brian Gray M/Cycles of High Wycombe for a XV535 in 1988 (big mistake) and sold it 2 years later and got the ZZR1100.The bike that really opened my eyes to modern sports bikes at that time was an R6 that my son bought V reg I think,i could not believe the acceleration and stopping power of that bike when I had a go on it.Sorry if i'm waffling on a bit but I have so many memories of the bikes and the times I have had on them.Wish I still had the old English bikes they would be worth a small fortune now.But I don't miss the oil puddles where ever they were parked.

god knows iv forgot a lot more as the last count there was about 60 road bikes then i went racing on spondon 200 yamahas and yamasaki hybrids then onto TZ350s and honda RS 125s
then supermoto bit in a huge way and done that for about 12 yerars riding in irish and british championships. the stupidest bike during that period was an ex GP500 KX500 in supermoto trim.lol... it still keeps me awake at night thinking what it was like to ride lol.

and now iv ended up at my storm and a wee 600 divvy as a wee hack.

the Guzzi the storm and that KX500 being the ones that id put at the top of my list..

as somebody said its in your blood. i did try to walk away from bikes as i thought id had enough but, iv ended up back at square one

How many bikes do some of you lot need??? 8O 8O 8O

but in my defence the 98 fireblade was brought for £1500 i had for about 6 or 7 years did everything i wanted it too.... commuted, weekend blasts in the lanes, hooligan moments, track days keeping up with and sometimes over taking the modern day bikes...... got wrote off, got my money back i paid originally, streetfightered it had more fun then sold it for £1300 cant argue with that in my eyes... and only reason i sold it was cause it needed a some work doing cause it was 15 years old... :D :D :D :D

lets see what the storm can do for me lol
