I have bought an old reg/rec from a 1999 R1 on ebay for a tenner
Is it marked SH or FH - Ideally you want an FH Mosfet type.

It doesn't look too clever to be honest, bit grubby. No idea what it says on it. I will have a look when it arrives. I knew it wasn't Mosfet but from my understanding the standard R1/R6 ones work fine, and not too hard to wire up.

Does it HAVE to be Mosfet?

it was this one . . .

Have a good read through the link above > "MOSFET Regulator/Rectifiers - The Why & The How" that describes the difference between Shunt and Mosfet R/Rs, the advantages of Mosfet and lists what models and years are suitable to be used.

The one youve bought from fleabay is too early to be a MOSFET.

Yeah I thought it was. But that doesn't matter does it? Still better than the stock one aint it?

Mosfet one will be a future upgrade for sure but just want to avoid famous VTR problems for now.

Yeah, I think anything is better than the original VTR version :)

Whereabouts in Derby are you, and what colour is your Storm? I'll keep my eye out! Mine's yellow

I'm just off from the Pentagon island at the minute. Might be moving at some point but normally at places like Robin Hood Harley, CMC, Chesterfield if I get bored etc and now this thing is up and running i might try and get to MFN a bit more and the vic in Coalville. Would go Matlock a fair bit but I've heard coppers are pulling everyone over for anything so the sheer noise of this thing wont go down too well.

Basically - going to ride when I can. As much as possible.

Ade kindly messaged me yesterday as I couldn't message him either due to being new. Made it easy for me to get hold of some and looking forward to when the CCTs arrive :)

Sound, I'm in Alvaston, but work over Shepshed and have a lot to do with the various quarries, so know a fair few lads over that way. Did my test in Coalville with Able Rider.

OK I got my manual CCTs (cheers Ade!)

Now the daunting task of actually fitting them. I can't help but think that this can go very wrong and I'm very nervous about doing it alone. Any tips, or experienced people about to lend a hand? or show me the way. there are some good reads on this site about it but I can't help but feel there is still margin for error with quite bad circumstances. maybe overnervousness or apprehension but i'm better off making sure right?
