I'm in the same boat here.

Just fixed up my late father's VTR after 4 years and it looks like it has stock Cam chain tensioners on it. (don't really have the time or confidence to take everything apart myself)

If I can get hold of some good ones and a good place/garage/person to fit them (I'm in Derby) then I'd pay to have em fitted easily.

I'm new here so I'll post the storm as soon as I can. :D

Be carefull with taking them to a garage ! There is a way of setting the the crank to the correct position so as not to miss time the timing...

Read through this post...http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 31&t=28583

It's not that hard to do really but I appreciate the confidence issue !

Start your own 'Help wanted' thread someone will be around your way to lend a hand & guide you through it.

I have already done lots of reading on this from this site and the posts and resources on here are fantastic!

Thanks for the links (even though I already read em haha)

I think its a confidence issue more than anything. Anyone nearby is welcome to assist me. Especially if they've done a couple before ;)

Let me know you get on mate. Mine has only done 8000 miles but definitely going to get them done soon, just not sure whether to do it myself or not.

Me too. I have a few weeks off work so it makes sense to give it a go. However I dont want to be without a bike for that long in the nice weather and I don't want to get things wring and cause further damage. I can be a little heavy handed sometimes and make things worse

However I have bought an old reg/rec from a 1999 R1 on ebay for a tenner and Ade sold me some Manual CCts for 46 quid so at least I'm getting the parts together.
