Easiest thing is to take someone who knows the bikes...where are you based ? where is the bike ? Is it a dealer or private sale ?

1.Only buy it if it's RED.

2.Do not under any circumstances but it if is teal...walk away...quickly...very quickly...

3.Has it got manual CCT's ?

4.Has it got an upgraded Reg / Rec ?

5. Has any work been done to the forks/shock ?

6. when was the swingarm linkage last serviced...if at all.

7. Normal 2nd bike checks...MOT's, confirm mileage, HPI it...Cat C ect. Check discs for wear & bobbins aren't fubar, headstock bearings, wheel bearings...Life in the tyres(check date stamp on sidewall, yeah it's got loads of tread but its 10 years old...No grip...)..last oil change...how much life left in the chain & sprockets ??? ask all these things, as they can be used to barter the price down. All very well buying a cheap bike but but add the price of all these bits on & it's not cheap any more.

Good look with the viewing M8tey ..all the major points here seem to be covered.
Are you viewing or riding it ... one ride is worth any amount of looks you can
give it ... but that is not always possible.. just to throw in my two penneth here ..
1.Does is start on the button... oil smoke/ rattles/ nice tickover / throttle reponse.
2. Check tyre wear / suspension there have been issues with head bearings.
Good luck and don't forget to tell us all if you make a purchase and join the gang

Check the steering lock stops for damage, they are very soft, so show up if there has been a light smash.

Check faring front sub frame is not bent. Are all the gaps each side to the frame looking symmetrical

Check for rusty oil lines to oil cooler

Check for rust under the rubber boot on starter motor

Check wiring under seat for signs that an alarm might have been fitted then removed. Look for taped up sections or spare wires.

Ask if it has had CCT failure. Stopper mod or manuals

Test ride it and make sure it will pull strongly past 7000 revs

Check for any squeaking when you bounce the back suspension. Sign that linkage brgs are rusted up.

Check that front brakes don't judder at higher speeds and no clunk from head bearing when you hit the brakes

Other than that buy it based on condition and signs that the owner is trustworthy and cared for the bike and knows what he is talking about.

Good luck

My bit; hpi it, especially after Marty's recent trouble :( . Also documented service history/bills etc is good and original paintwork. Oh and contrary to MacV2's comment definitely buy teal as he is colour blind  If I'd had a bit more warning I could have viewed it with you as I'm only an hour away! Good luck
