Hey man, only just seen this as I haven't been around much.

Got to say your attitude is amazing! It's been a pleasure to read through this topic up to here, be proud of your outlook and stay positive.

Pm me if you don't have a headlight surround local to you, I have a headlight stuck in a surround which has been sprayed white. Can't get the headlight screws undone and I was keeping it as a swap option for my black bike, it looks quite nice on a black bike. or could be painted by masking the headlight (what I did)

Anyway, let me know if you need it. People on here have helped me loads with cheap/free bits!

Any news on the insurance/legality side of things? It is a difficult one and I don't reckon anyone could say without seeing the spot exactly and where the taxi was, the way I read it, if the taxi was right up to the kerb and you tried to squeeze through a 6" gap then your fault (not likely) but if the taxi was stopped in the main traffic lane and the passenger opened the door into the cycle lane then they are completely to blame, opening the door into a live traffic lane. Maybe you shouldn't have been there, but I don't see that changing liability as the same could have happened to a cyclist.

This is why I always pay the extra 10-15 bucks for legal cover, you know you got someone fighting for you in this sort of circumstance.

Anyway, get well soon, hope the swelling goes down.

Thanks Matty, I appreciate the offer of the headlight/surround. I shall get back to you in the new year if needs be. The cab was a rental cab and the owner is only too pleased to not go through insurance as it will be a big hit on his insurance premiums with being a public service vehicle. It's looking like it is going to be a knock for knock. He fixes his damage and I fix mine and we both move on. Suits me as the last thing I need is my insurance increasing.
Maxi was my first car 8O what a crock of shite
I remember them. Allegro's and princesses as well...sh1t cars  The only decent car Austin made was the Mini and I'm not talking metro.

Put some lacquer on my fairing panel today and it re-acted with the paint  it's crazing. I shall have to let it dry fully and then rub down again before applying more lacquer. The cold damp weather didn't help.

Hey Carl, "When not If" is exactly correct. Reading through your post I am struck by the fact that you have a really great
crowd of guys there to give you a hand as well as a little moral support. You show a positive attitude about your circumstances, Keep It Up!

The bruising/swelling thing that's a handicap in getting things sorted out. I have some experience with that and there are some B vitamins that help speed the body in healing bruises. You may want to check this out.

The unfortunate timing of all this is covered by the infamous "Mr.Murphy" in his laws where he state "Anything that can go wrong, will usually at the most inconvenient time.

You are doing well get your scooter back together. Before you know it the old girl will be back on the road. These birds are not bullet proof by any means, but they are more durable sometime, in fact a lot of times than we are.

Good luck with recovery on both of you. I would gladly lend a hand but that's a little tough from this side of the pond.

Hi, Carl, just seen this. Good you're ok-ish...but healing.

Usual offer for any parts you need, but call me if there's anything I can do.

Sounds like you're pretty much sorted now, though.

I have a LH panel as a loaner if you need one, and a headlight surround as well.

Not colours that match yours though..

And of course- it's an upgrade opportunity
And the winter's the time to buy.

Chin up fella.
Down, but you got up again.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
