Can`t believe what a bit of time and patience can achieve. I though it was beyond repair but after attacking it with a dremmel and giving it a lick of hammerite smooth it looks like new
looks like you did a top job, and you have the satisfaction of doing it yourself, i'd even consider throwing a load of lacquer on it for extra protection....
Good job Did you note there is an arrow on the side of one of the plates so you put it on the bike with the arrow pointing forward. I hope you haven't covered that up in a thick coat of Hammerite.

Spray loads of WD-40 on it & let it soak over night, even better if you can put it in a pot or something & cover it in engine cleaner or even petrol & soak over night.
Making up since 2007, sometimes it's true...Honest...
