Which chain & sprockets do you use, and why...
Which chain & sprockets do you use, and why...
I have to make a decision about which C&S's to put on the 'storm, and I can't decide on which manufacturer to use....AFAM or Tsubaki for the chain, and OE sprockets, or renthal ones.
Which do you all use, and what would you recommend?

Always renthal, not a bad life span and look nice
Re: Which chain & sprockets do you use, and why...
So is there much different between AFAM and Tsubaki, or is an X-ring chain, an X-ring chain!?!
Re: Which chain & sprockets do you use, and why...
Stock Honda steel front sprocket, Renthal rear and DID X-ring chain. With my scotoiler I am starting my forth year with them on and I do an average of 3000 miles a year.
Might change them all again cause I have nearly polished the gold anodise off the chain and rear sprocket

I've tried loads of different makes over the years and I can honestly say there is not a lot of difference between the manufactures.
What I have noticed is, if you buy a cheep chain they don't last very long. Go for heavy duty or extra heavy duty and then don't skimp on cheep sprockets. Get the highest carbon rating sprocket you can.
Its normally the sprocket wearing away which causes wear on your chain so if you are going to change the chain do the sprockets too

DID X-Ring, JT steel sprockets (15/44), scot-oiler. - changed after 18,000 miles wear was not excessive and only adjusted a couple of times apart from tyre changes etc.
replaced the rear JT with a supersrox sprocket as it was shinier but else all the same again.
