for your bike i think white would look good , an belive me when i say it , i really don't like white wheels (no offence intended lloydie i actually admire what you've done altho im black to the death !) summat to do with my heart im told ! . anyhoo what other choices have you ? they gotta be white or red mmm or black , in fact why not go the whole hog and get the storm all black ,,,, now that would be nice
DOES THIS RAG SMELL LIKE CHLOROFORM TO YOU ?

Adyf has a nice shade of bronze/gold wheels, they look a bit like forged Marchesini's.
I'd say, white. But if you were to commute on it, gloss black

I'd look towards the gold/bronze it's a winning combination on a red and white bike have a look at a Ducati 916sps doesn't get much better than that.

Well my wheels arrived Thursday so need to strip old bearings out and send them off (cheers jazzscot ) can you buy a bearing set with all spacers etc? Sorry for hijacking but I'm going white wheels on yellow bike and think your will look almost as good as mine if you do your wheels white lol

I guess you could get a little pot of gloss white enamel and a fine brush. But you'd have to redo it with every tyre change

Colour? Up to you, it's you that has to look at it every morning when you open the garage door!
Otherwise, if you listen to someone else's opinion, your bike ends up looking like theirs.
But when you send them for coating, I've found it best to do the prep first.
You'll need to make sure that there's no coating on the surface where the brake discs sit, or they won't run true. Also the bearing seats need to be masked. I found that a length of studding through each wheel with washers on, large enough to blank off the bearing surfaces works well.
Lastly, stress to them that they should not coat the inside of the rim, where the tyre bead tries to grip, or it could rotate on the rim and throw the balance out.
Chrome powder coat looks grey unless it's lacquered afterwards, special lacquer needed apparently. If it chips, you can't touch it back in, which is where white and black come in useful.
Those you touch in with a dob of hammerite, and it doesn't show at all.
Colours you have to match.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Decided to do my wheels gold powder coat.
Look quite good on a red bike in my opinion.

There are white and black wheel weights... Other colours are harder to find...Jamoi wrote:Take em' off!toonarmy wrote:Only worry with white is when u get them balanced can u get white weights or just spray them ?

The other option is a bit of white duct tape.... you do tape your wheel weights down, don't you???Tweety wrote:There are white and black wheel weights... Other colours are harder to find...
Loud pipes don't save lives, knowing how to ride your bike will save your life.
Re: Powder Coat colours are doing my head in...
Nah, not really... I just put new ones on when I loose them... I'm too lazy, and the tape keeps irritating me... And besides, I chew the tires up too fast, so I swap them rather often, so new weights... (I swap and balance myself)8541Hawk wrote:The other option is a bit of white duct tape.... you do tape your wheel weights down, don't you???Tweety wrote:There are white and black wheel weights...
