so its a constant noise?

the bike isnt moving in a particular way to set of the noise like leanig to the left going round a bend or going over a speed bump. that sort of thing.

if its constant it cant be too much, bearings, brakes, chain, tyre.

Yeah it's basically constant, and scoff oiler isn't scraping the chain. Just had a call back from my dad, gonna try and limp it home at 30-40mph and he's gonna have a look. Reckon it's to do with the plate on the back of the swing arm now :S

Never felt so uncomfortable on a bike. Gonna try and see if I can get my dad to let me switch to insuring myself on the storm, though I doubt he will, because I don't feel comfortable on the hornet anymore. Something goes wrong every few hundred miles :(

Virt wrote:Tyre is clear of swing arm. Only thing loose is the plate on the back of the right swing arm in front of the bolts, no idea what that does? Can't check the front sprocket as I have no tools. Brother stole my under-seat toolkit and the seat keeps bending my keys, I only have my master key on me as I'm awaiting arrival of my new key at the key cutters
Is that the chain tensioner

did you get the wheel spacers the right way round?
you'll probably find one is wider than the other ;)
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Sounds like all it need is maintenance / preventative maintenance. What you have with the CB is a better basis of transport, with money better spent on maintenance (parts, tools & recovery;-), than having a hamstrung 33bhp VTR that you can only ride in a car park or with money thrown at exorbitant insurance.

Anyone planning a workshop day this year?

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Problem is I do what I can to help the bike, but my brother who had it before me treated it like crap and ragged it everywhere. There's only so much I can do with a limited budget and limited knowledge, I didn't know how badly it had been treated until November! :(
