JMC Swing Arms - Any good?

Post by WayneM »

Thinking about ordering a JMC swing arm.

Lots of order options that I dont understand! Anything I should bear
in mind?

Top or Bottom brace? Adjuster types?

Price is going to be about £450 - Any other better options for that
money?

Real reason for wanting is because I think they look sexy - Sad I
know!

Cheers

Hi wayne, well i think they look pretty cool to, the amount & position of bracing is really down to preference, as i am sure that the stiffness would equal or exceed the standard item, i am sure that there is another company that also makes them, but i cant find the details.oh yea dont go
for the eccentric adjusters , they look naff.

rear swing arm

I believe you can retro fit a fire blade rear swing arm that has all the bracing. got a pic of one that has had it done. looks pretty cool however I don't know whether that effect the overall wheel base length of the bike. If I recall correctly from chatting with the guy whom did it, it shortened the wheel base marginally. don't quote me though.
Can forward the pic if you like(haven't worked out how to attah photos to this site yet. It's a very trick VTR. Blade front end braced frame, Hi rise cans, blade swing arm belly pan and above all it is yellow!

JMC swinger

If you want your bike to look cool then go for it but you'll F!!! up the handling.

The std swinger has a degree of flex which you will lose with a braced item and you'll lose the compliance in the rear end and feedback.

Forget the cosmetics, fit an ohlins shock, rear sets and have the front end sorted by Revolution and you'll be scraping the fairing it'll be so sweet.
