New bloke here. Am planning on changing my cct's for manuals asap. I know someone here makes them, Bazza I do believe ??
I'm watching a set on ebay at the mo, which do look good quality items, but if someone here can supply the same things, I'd rather give them the cash, keep it in the family so to speak.
I'll avoid the buy it now button till I hear more
Just read the relevant page in my Haynes manual about removal/replacement of CCT's, and it doesn't say you need to remove cam covers/ find tdc etc. Whats the crack ?

the thread is called essex workshop day or something close to that
Not too far away, I suppose about 40 mins at a guess. Sounds like a job that requires more than a couple of ring spanners, and not sure that i'd want to be carting all the required tools with me on the bike. Would still be interested in attending, just to get the heads up. Is it april 7 ??
No worries with fitting these on the day, but you'll need to have them available.
Don't leave it to the last minute; they're always in short supply.
Lastly loosen off the centre (larger) inspection cap on the alternator cover- it gets stuck pretty often.
At least if you do it beforehand you can have a spare one to hand if necessary.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Think I'm gonna do them this weekend, time permitting. While I'm at it going to balance the carbs, new oil, plugs and filters, treat the old girl.
Wish me luch with the cct's, never done them before.

Lee,
If you are going to do them this weekend make sure you follow this link below for setting up the valve timing The link below is for removing and refitting standard CCT's, but the valve timing settings are exactly the same for fitting standard or manual CCT's. Good luck with it,
