Thermodynamics

Post by Beamish »

Anyone study this area of academia recently? I am ploughing through what may eventually become a degree, but I may bang out at HND depending on my work committments. I am finding this module a complete swine. I have completed many other similar engineering modules previously but this is killing me. Adiabatic combustion, Stoichiometric ratios, using steam tables etc 8O. Really hard! I found Aeronautical engineering a lot easier but that may have been because I was a lot younger when last I studied.

Anyhoo, I know some of the site members are engineers and boffins so I thought I would pose the question.

P.S If no one can help then the last V pill comes out and its off with Superheated Steam properties and on with YouPorn

Sorry mate, I did all my engineering learning when I was younger, and I suspect I have forgotten more than I learned by now.
The words you use are all familiar, but I would have to start learning all over again to even catch up with you.

Now I am an engineering manager I am using more of the stuff I learned as a farmer than the theory I learned in a Mech Eng Degree.........Shoveling sh1t and chasing sheep!

Timbo there are so many questions I wouldnt really know where to start  . I remembered the Bernoulli's theorum from my Aeronautical Eng ONC (hydraulics I think). Thanks AMCQ thats how it feels for me. If I had carried on from the Cert I could have nailed it a lot easier than it seems now. I am out of the RAF in less than two years so the qualification will help in securing employment, otherwise I wouldnt give a cats rock :)
Old grey matter needs a good kick start nowadays :confused

Like to help Beamish but I did mine 40 years ago!
Can't remember what I had for breakfast let alone stoichiometric whatever. I do remember something about steam tables and reciprocating steam engines....... enthalpy?? or was it entropy??
Anyway good luck with it.

Ah yes the joys of thermodynamics, what do you want to know Jim??

I can help you out with steam tables and adiabatic stuff. let me know what you need and I'll see what I can do.
