Post by ___Norwegian___ »

Iv been reading that there are some of the automatic cam chain tensioners/A -CCT that fails, leaving behind bent valves...
Is this rare or?

Is there any symptoms that this is gona happen?

Does anyone here have success in instaling and jusing tha manual CCT, M-CCT?

Mine is a -99 with 62000km.

Mate have a read of some of the threads on here...use the seach function.

There have been many a fail, no you dont get a warning, milage is irrelevent, swap to manuals ASAP, I run them in all my Storms never had an issue, very little mainanace required, easy to fit.

No brainer for the cost of a set & a few hours tinkering time, peace of mind that your motor is safe...

Verse's not doing it & hope they dont fail & when they do $$$$ to replace/repair head or find a new motor.

They're fine, if a little expensive.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

The big difference is the 1st ones are chinees nock offs of the Apes...

The Apes are US made & a good brand.

The bottom ones I have no experiance with, I beleive they are made in Germany.

APE has a CNC manufacturing wing in their Willow Springs facility. So making them would be no issue. Plus in all the years I have used APE products, I have never heard of them rebranding another manufacturers parts. If you have proof, I would love to see it, until then I will say that APE products are made in sunny SoCal not China.
