Carbon hugger for vtr/900 braced swingarm

Post by Japcati »

Hi.
I recently got hold of a vtr/900 braced swingarm.

I've just seen this hugger on Kev L's bike
Does anyone know where to get this carbon rear hugger?
And what year of bike it's for?
Thanks.

It'll be determined by the source of the brace i.e 900 Fireblade. Do you know from the maker the brace donor bike?

Somefolk use R1 huggers

Yip, I have an r1 fitted on mine but you would be better asking Jamie where he got it from, as I'm a lazy git who just bought his.
Don't hassle me
I'll get there at some time

I have a braced swing arm and used a hugger from a 2004 R1 Yamaha.

The brace for the swingarm came off of a 97 Fireblade, the hugger was an E Bay purchase and I cant remember the supplier I'm afraid.

This is mine.
I don't know what year of blade the brace is off.
Mine seems to have a slope on the inside of it and a very small slope on the outside.
Wonder what year of Fireblade brace this is??

Is the R1 hugger a good fit?
What year R1 would give the best fit?
Thanks.

You can check on the mnfrs website to see what bikes each model fits. I think the r1 one is the same as a triumph, but can't recall which.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

On powerbronze and pyramid, and other manufacturers (mnfr) of such things, they will have a model and make and year list, so you can see for instance if their model number, say, P106 is also listed as a fitment for other bikes.
That gives you a much better chance of finding one in stock or secondhand somewhere.

So you don't need one specifically for a fireblade 954 if they make the same model that also fits a triumph explorer 1000 or an r1 1999 to 2001.
Its the same thing by a different name.
