The John Hepburn Memorial Trophy... The big hand over

Post by MacV2 »

OK Chaps & Chapesses...

The proposed presentaion of said trophy is go,go,go...

Sunday the 15th at the annual match up twitx The Real Oddies & St Martins CC...

This is the email I received today fron Mike the club chairman...

''Morning, Mac - yes, Sunday 15th it is with a 12.30 start. Finish is flexible (weather could be a factor!) but 5.30-6.00 possibly?

Address of Garrison Ground is CO2 7GA. The entrance is through a gate off Circular Rd East, which is the first turning on left after you have gone into Napier Road at traffic light junction with Mersea Rd.

The Oddies captain will be Tim Boud and I've copied him in to this - he, Real Oddies cricketers and our opposition - St Martin's - all greatly look forward to seeing you on the day. There will be a keg of beer at the game and a pub get together with some food afterwards. Do please let us know about anything you'd like to be provided. Cricket teas are out, owing to the pandemic, but we can make sure that you don't go undernourished on the day!

Just one more thing - how many of you do you think will come along? That would help when we order refreshments.

All best wishes,

Mike''

So any one who fancies a ride out, some free beer, possible sunstroke or a drenching please let me know ASAP so that i can let Mike know...

Now the normal southern softies meet up you'll have to sort out yourselves as I will be up at Jonseys so will be going from there...

I've not finalised it yet but I'm not planning on spending all day there so won't be there for the first over....

Please anyone who wants to come along let me know ASAP so I can let Mike know the numbers...

Mac.

Right today I have had a top up... Some donations have come in this week & I'll still take 'em...

Between VRT1000.ORG & Honda VTR 1000 Firestorm owners! Page on Facebarf...

A running total of £975.85 has been donated...

The costs for the trophy as follows... Trophy £195. Engraving £45. Flight Case £35.99 Foam £11.22. Total £287.21

So that leaves £688.64 which will be donated to a charity of Johns Sisters choice...

I will get in touch with her & find out which is her prefered charity & make sure the money goes there... I'm thinking Air Ambulance or British Heart Foundation... BHF as John had some heart issues. At the end of the day the choice will be down to her...

These things are never nice to have to do however I feel privaliged to have done my bit for John & I would like to say a BIG thank you to everyone who donated...

The trophy will be presented next weekend at the game between Jonhs old Cricket Club & their frendly rivals St.Martins CC... Apparently there are some players who play for both sides, hance the annual match up & after game pub session...

As it says in the other post you are all welcome to come along next weekend just let me know so I can let the Cricket club know the numbers coming...

Thank You Ladies & Gentelmen...

There were some FB who had a bid but said they were out bid as well.

I asked Jonesey to get intouch with Angelina...This is her reply...

''Reply: John supported Air Ambulance- but I suggest you put it in a kitty for celebration drink at an Opportune time . A smile goes a long way xx

2nd bit: John would give his last penny to save a lit Little lost hedgehog or something peculiar.... I leave it to you - Angelina x''

So As a £600 booze kitty might sound like a good idea to some...Sorry the Air ambulance is geting it... Might send a few bob to a wildlife charity . I will also keep a bit back for a bottle to take to Wales for a Wicky toast...Hic...

Thank you all again...
