Hi Mac,

Swapped them last summer and I've only covered arou d 400 to 500m since then due to lock down. I can't them off ebay, good reviews and lots of sales.

I've just checked the MCCT and it's tight, I don't know what happened to the other.

If the piston is bent, what kind of cost am I looking at? Bike isn't worth more the £1500 I guess!!!

On the up side, I'm half pissed and watching the GP, come Sam...

Hopefully the piston wont be damaged, if it's only bent valves,

Valves, valve guides & gaskets your looking at about £200 thats what it cost me some years ago...I gave someone £200 to sort it but that was private not a dealer...

Well done

There's nothing like a boost of enthusiasm for working on a bike you've just bought when, you find out the engine works 8)

I have never known that to happen before. I have heard of the centre adjuster coming loose on a MCCT, but not the fixing bolts
Are you sure you tightened the fixing bolts up tight when you fitted the MCCT's :?:

I hope the damage is not too bad for you,

Chris.

I hung the front end off the garage joists and removed the forks. Drained and refilled with same amount of 12.5w oil (up from 10), cut the fork spacers with a pipe cutter 10mm, new KTech linear springs (9.0) arriving later this week and a pair of cheap chinese preload adjusters. Should sort the front a bit, now to save up for a new rear shock.
I'm so unlucky that if there is such a thing as re-incarnation I'll come back as me!

Hi Mac,

Ive stripped the bike down and there is bend on the rod, picture isn't clear. I'll continue to investigate and let you know how it's looking, it's looking costly Image

Yep thats ferked...

Choice is either to strip & rebuild or replace the head compleat...

Radical move would be to swap whole motor...

On a scale of 1 to 5, how difficult is it to source and replace head?

Cheers for confirming its knocked pal.

1 if you know someone who has one.

5 if you need to trawl brakers/ebay.

Rears are quite common to find but as the fronts let go more often they are rare...

Could be a 1.

I've contacted someone I know who may have one.

+ I have a scrap engine that you either have the lot or just buy the head...
