Cam chain tensioner

Post by marcus gerhold »

Greetings, I need to replace mine as she sounds like a bag of spanners!
I could do with some advice on what type and where to purchase.
She is a 2000 Storm.
Thanks
Marcus

Krieger, APE, Bazza and Ade Whitmarsh's CCT's > http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=22720
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Here's a link on how to rebuild your OEM unit, I can guide you on how to improve it for the sake of longevity if you like. If you go the manual route, I only recommend APE from direct experience. Just make sure you set the tension correctly and use green loctite on the CCT hardware or an equivalent.

My ccts are pink dot ones.
Does anyone know how they differ from non pink dot ones?

Did your bike always make bag of spanners sound or has it developed over a period of time?

The paint dots are just batch markers they were never updated.

Timebombs to start with still timebombs regardless of the dot hue...

No warnings sounds, if it sounds like a bag of spanners it 's too late !

Otherwise, you could update it to a safe one with a felt tip.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
