There is some variation in how the fuel sensor operates, so fill a 5lt petrol can, strap it on the bike , set the millage to zero, and run it dry, before you start messing with the jets and the choke.

Kev, the bike was fine on the Yorkshire run, and the only thing I did to the bike after that was wash it, and i did check that the ends of all the vent pipes were all clear after the symptoms started showing, and that made no improvement. The problem seems identical to one i had last year, turned out to be very small pin hole in pet rock diaphram, its cheap enough even if yours looks ok, i would change it
