Re: DDDDDYNOJET!

Well, I got my Factory Pro kit this morning- and it seems that for Storms there ISN'T a need for replacement springs- you use the originals. But you don't need to drill the slides, so if that's a worry, then FP might be the answer. They include an assortment of main jets, two pilot jets, needles, ci...

What bit do you look at first?

SO when you log on, and there's blue patches against all of the subjects, which one do you look at first? Personally, it's the workshop bit, then swaps, then bike talk, then general chat. So hands up who does these in alphabetical order, or top to bottom, or whatever? Don't matter none, just wondered.

Re: Thinking of a change

For me, the problem would be when I can't be bothered to be focussed and on it, and just want to pobble about (copyrighted phrase). I don't find this as easy on an IL4 as it can be on a big v. (Course, there's gonna be much less of the sitting there waiting for the speed to build before you can slot...

Re: Odometer question

Agreed. The point about the chain wear is that you're asking the chain plates to bend a wee bit more relative to each other each time they run round the front sprocket, as the diameter's smaller. It's the smallest sprocket that affects this, the bigger one has much less effect on the angle that the ...

Re: *** IMPORTANT*** Swingarm and linkage bearings servicing

Good job, and at a good price, too. But the smaller end of the dog bone isn't fitted with a greasing point, and it's that one which seems in most danger of collapsing- (see the picture in the first post in this thread for why it's needed) so how does it help? Granted, the two longer bolts and their ...

Re: Yet another newbie!

Another yellow welcome. :D

Get a decent long test ride, it takes some people a while to get used to not wringing its neck like an IL4 or two stroke.

And the handling's easy to tweak.

Re: Any firestorm riders in london?

There's a biker meet-up every Wednesday evening at the Oakdene Cafe, at Wrotham on the A20. Starts around six thirty, cafe closes at ten. Best fried breakfast you've ever had! I can usually get there any Weds, is that any use as a meet-up venue? Otherwise there a re a lot of bikes there on Sundays a...

Re: 2009 summer meetup.

Definitely up for that. I can offer to host the Sarf end of the UK one if that's any use? Big enough garden for half a dozen tents, oil drum barbie for eats and I happen to have a mobile disco, so it won't be quiet! (but I do have a cat, and doves, so if you're allergic give us a shout and I can sor...

Re: Out of touch

Maybe they built it using new spare parts- if you added up all the spare part prices it's gotta come to something like that. Not as daft as it sounds, if you really really want a discontinued model- a mate had an old-style Meriden Bonneville built a few years back this way. Cost a fortune, but insur...

Re: Previous Bikes

Had loads, but last bike on the road was a NTV 650 Honda. Same sort of thing in miniature, really, with shaft drive and no fairing to have to repair when I drop it. Thing is, on the old commute (back roads) I could have it wide open exiting bends- can't do that with the Storm, so have to pay attenti...
