Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
Cheers chaps! Yes I borrowed a mig welder from a friend and had a play around with it on some scrap metal before I made the subframe. A few of the welds aren't pretty but they're strong enough and they're out of sight! I'm enjoying the fabrication stuff, I know it's not to the same level as many of ...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
The benefit and curse of being self employed, I ended up with another bonus day off today. Obviously the Storm received my full attention for the day! Made some good progress on the custom subframe, my welding skills aren't perfect but I've improved since the start of the project. I made x4 threaded...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
Thanks for your advice Malcolm, the reason the calipers look mint is because I've already done the toothbrush on the pistons and done the bobbin dance + fluid [emoji1] I figured the next step would be the seals as maybe they're a bit old? I'll recheck the front wheel seating, as I did get a bit whee...

Re: M8 to M6 thread reducer? Do they exist?
Hi Micheal, thanks for the info and link. They're just what I'm looking for.
I have ordered something very similar, so if they fail to turn up I'll get on to these!

Re: LED Versus H4 headlamp bulb.
Hi Chris, I think it's difficult to capture the spread of light in a photo, but it looks to me like the LED has a brighter more intense contact area on the road, but the original bulb has a much better spread of light?
How did you feel they compare in the flesh?

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
Picked up an electric carving knife from the range on my way home (thanks for the tip Steve97) and had another crack at the seat foam. It's much better, but still tricky to get a nice uniform thin slice off the top with such a short blade. I'm running out of foam to butcher! Also, I picked up a nice...

Re: M8 to M6 thread reducer? Do they exist?
It might be too thin to take much torque. The thread root for a m8 isn't far off the outside diameter of the M6 thread, if that makes sense. You might consider drilling oversize, then using an M10 to M6 version. Alternatively, get it welded up, then drill and tap as you require. Where is the fixing...

Re: M8 to M6 thread reducer? Do they exist?
They look like a similar idea to a helicoil? I've done it before to repair a knackered subframe but I used M8 grub screws drilled & tapped out to M6. You need to put a slot in the end to screw the m8 into place (or use the M6 and a locknut) and then a bit of blue loctite. Hey Yellabell, yes sim...
