Bumpy as f**k

Hi all Where I live, most of the local roads are very bumpy, especially the minor white roads. Admittedly my other bike is an enduro bike so the bumps get ironed out by the soft suspension. Tonight I went out for a little 20-mile bimble around the local roads - around Santa Pod, Bozeat, Wellingborou...

Cheers all. Does anyone know what brand the fairing lower is? I've got some high-level zorsts on the way, and need to do something about the rear suspension which is harder than solid rock, and a bit of a creak from the back which is probably something to do with bearings in the linkage, must do som...

I bought a broken one

All, A quick tale of success. This is my third VTR; A silver 97 (written off by a doofus in a van) A black 99 (I bought it crashed and fixed it up) And now this yellow 97. I bought this about two weeks ago. The previous owner explained that he was riding it and it just started to make a horrible kno...

I did try giving it a few knocks before trying to spin it out with the two nuts - but couldn't budge it at all. I had most of the bike apart anyway (bought it last week as a non-runner, it's had a front CCT failure. I had planned to take the front head off to check for bent valves - No damage thankf...

Sheared manifold stud? Try this!

All, Doing a bit of work today on my VTR, I was removing the exhaust system. Unfortunately one of the front manifold studs sheared, only leaving about 8mm protruding. I had been soaking it in Plus Gas for a few nights in preparation, but obviously that's not good enough! I've been in this situation ...

Hi Alan Thanks for that. I did try a couple of searches yesterday without much luck. I tried again this morning and found this one which is quite useful; http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1465&highlight=front+wheel+model However, I couldn't find your post. Do you have a link to it? C...

Which Honda front wheels will fit?

Hi all,

I need a new front wheel for my VTR (the exisiting one has a big 'ding' in it) and was wondering if the same wheel was used on other Honda models.

Does anyone know?

Cheers
Andy

Furthermore - regarding carb setup/jetting, I presume it can't hurt to at least balance the carbs properly to keep everything running sweetly? So far (I've only done 1000 miles) I've been getting around 100 miles before reserve (worst 96, best 115). I've also been reading about the TPS mod with inte...

Ben Thanks for all the info. I bought a new filter with some other bits, ready to service the bike - when I changed the filter, I found it already had a K&N, which was relatively clean. I changed it anyway, and the performance actually seemed to improve! There had previously been a horrible flat...

Now you mention it, you might be right. They're not the only balls which get a battering, either!!

I can't really decide on the belly pan. I quite like the Mario Nava full fairing, but can't really justify the cost at the moment. The screen's made by F.Fabbri, according to a little sticker at the top corner. If I have my chest against the tank, I can tuck completely out of the wind. Sitting up, I...

Hello all, I'm new

Hi everyone. I've just bought a 1998 VTR with 12,000 miles in nice shiney silver. I bought it cheaply and just had to do a few bits to get it into top form; It's belly pan is missing but otherwise it's in pretty good shape! I've already ordered some braided hoses and EBC HH Pads to try to improve th...
