Re: huge favour to ask please

Kaz, thanks very much for your kind words. I was lucky enough to have had 18 good years with my boy and we were good mates (most of the time). It shocked me at the time it happened to find out that 8 young people (between 14 - 30) die each week from these problems, so there are a lot of families goi...

Re: huge favour to ask please

I hope all goes well for you with your charity drive, I lost my son at 18 to a previously undiagnosed congenital heart defect in 2005. I support CRY (cardiac risk in the young) as a consequence. I tried voting for your charity but the system asks for postcode and address and then only allows you to ...

Thank you very much Sirch. It's good that the younger generation of motorcyclist recognise the fact that the old ones are indeed the best

Re: Lateral Thinking in action...

Being an old git I remember this story being the central concept of an episode of Porridge (the Ronnie Barker series, not your breakfast!) back in the early eighties I believe.
Ho hum.

Re: Pulled for speeding last night - not quite straightforwa

Ahh the Great British judiciary. Another law unto themselves. Some of the jobs that were either booted or bargained down used to make my hair curl. It all went down the pan when coppers stopped prosecuting their own jobs. CPS walk in with a bundle of papers they see shortly before prosecuting and ha...

Re: Pulled for speeding last night - not quite straightforwa

A lot of the 4x4's on the motorways around here are HATO's. There role has always been a bit of a mystery to me. They seem to be similar to the PCSO's ie a visible deterent without any (or very little) enforcement powers. Anyway with the cuts which are being implemented at the moment across all publ...

Re: Pulled for speeding last night - not quite straightforwa

Glad it's sorted mate. Many moons ago, 1978 I think, I had a car nicked from outside a girlfriends house. My first car it was, a Cortina 1300 de luxe Mk2, try to contain yourselves!! Anyway I had already bought a newer car (Corsair 1700 V4) so no real problem. Anyhow insurance company paid me out an...

Re: Pulled for speeding last night - not quite straightforwa

There was always a certain amount of antagonism between street and trafpol to be honest. There are a lot fewer Trafpols now as road policing is handled by Gatso's (whole different issue there). You and I will have to agree to differ on the role of plod, but having worked for the Met for 30 odd years...
