LOVE my Storm

I went on a couple of long trips in recent weeks on my Firestorm and am truly impressed with the results of the mods I have carried out this year (Microns, DJ kit, heavy bar ends, 16/43 gearing, 18mm longer front intake runner, RaceTech modded shock, RaceTech .80 fork springs and 1mm hole in cartrid...

To all my brothers and sisters in the UK, you are in my prayers (and in those of many Canadians I am sure). I hope they can find the cowards responsible for doing this and draw and quarter the ba****ds. Hey, they want to go to heaven right, give 'em an express ticket to wherever it is they end up. I...

I just got back from having my DJ kit installed and having the bike dynoed. The final (peak) results are 68.8 lbs/ft torque at 7K and 105.5 hp at 8800 rpm. My set-up includes Micron slips ons, DJ kit, stock airfilter (modded with ridge removed), two long intake runners and stock TPS setting (@821 oh...

Jet kit installation options

Greetings everyone, I called two local bike shops to look into installing the DJ kit I purchased for my 99 VTR (as I do not have the facility to do it myself). One uses a dyno and charges $350 CDN to install and tune while the other charges $300 and uses an exhaust gas analyzer to do the tuning. Whe...

Sorry DD, just trying to have a bit of fun  To answer your question, I truly do not know why they chose to use tow different length trumpets on the VTR. Also, I cannot take credit for coming up with the idea of trying the tow long ones. I got it from an article on another site which explains h...

sorry, no dyno. It did feel SLIGHTLY softer at the very bottom end (sub 3K) but installing the long intake trumpet overcame that. I do thik that the jetting on the low end may be a bit lean but that will all be fixed with teh jet kit. Overall I am very happy with my Microns (so far).

Sorry DD. Alright folks, you heard the man, put all your bikes back to stock. That's right, no more pipes, jet kits, fork mods, shocks, .... Stock is best remember!!!!! Seriously though, manufacturers have certain constraints (ie. emissions and sound) that we as individual owners do not have. Also, ...

Long intake runner installed :)

Hello again :) I finally got around to installing a long intake trumpet on the front cylinder (same unit as found on rear cylinder). It took all of about 15 minutes to do (no tank removal necessary either). I just returned from a ride and am very happy with the result. The bike seems to pull better ...

I personally just went from a 41 to a 43 on the rear sprocket and love the change. The shortened wheelbase (using stock chain), together with some slight chassis changes (adding 4.5mm shim to rear, raising forks 6mm) really made a difference in the way the bike handles.

I hope this helps.

the stock gearing is 16/41 (not 42). Going from a 16 to a 15 in the front drops the ratio by about 6%. Going up two in the rear is about 5%, adding three is about 7.5%. You decide how close you want to get. Also, not to start an argument, but given that the front/rear combos vary so much, there can ...

Microns are now on

I just finished installing my Micron (race) low-mounts this evening. I took the bike out for a short 30 km ride and the results are very nice. The sound is nice and crisp, the bike definitely felt snappier at all speeds and there was an absence of any lean spots or surging (no popping on decel or st...

interesting K&N info

Greetings fellow Stormers. As some of you may recall, I was asking questions a little while back regarding the value of adding a K&N to my Storm (along with my yet to be installed Microns and Dynojet kit). In the end, based on some advice that I received from a chap on another forum (based on ex...

Sorry Ben, still no go. Thanks for giving it another go though :) In regards to my K&N question, my main concern in asking this question is the power curve. Gaining 3 hp on top is not worth a 4 hp drop at 5K, it is really that simple. On another note, I just got back from riding my 'Storm with t...
