Re: DLC coated internals

One thing i am not sure about with low tickover revs is, at that 'low' speed, does the oil pump have enough in it to pump the oil to the top of the engine with the flow rate required to lubricate and cool it :?:

Re: Whats the best brake pads?

For normal riding stick with the OEM pads, harder pads will wear the disc away quicker.

Re: I give up. need help or advice.

I feel your pain Jens, carbs can be a nightmare! There is a good write-up on the Factory Pro website about tuning them, basically IGNORE everything else and get the main jetting right then worry about pilot jets and air screws. From what you said about raising the needles I take it the carbs still h...

Re: Need a bit of help.

Mine has the 170's with standard exhaust but baffle plate drilled and a K&N, it had 180's in when i got it and was way too rich, it previously had ART cans. So try 180 in the front and 185 in the rear carb. If thats too rich drop down to the 170/175, Of course only a dyno tune can sort it proper...

Re: Air screws do they have to be the same ?

The most common cause of backfire is a small leak in the exhaust joints so make sure they are fully sealed first, high temp silicon sealant is perfect for that job.

At 4 turns out on the rear you run the risk of the screw falling out due to not enough tension on the small spring.

Re: Connecting an Acumen DGV Gear/Voltmeter

As you know, my unit is home designed and made and was working ok with the wires wrapped around paper clips and pushed into the connecting blocks during testing!!! I expect the commercial unit works the same as mine by taking a snapshot of the speed sensor pulses over a fixed time period and compari...

Re: Carb tools. mixture screw

Benny,
He has a '97 Storm so that tool IS the correct one as its a direct copy of the Honda tool.

Jens,
One thing to check is that the carb rubber band screws are not in the way and does your bike have the PAIR system fitted?
