Air Filter

Poverty prevents me from getting anything major done to me bike at the mo, so I was wondering: if I change the air filter to a K&N or something, will it make much of a difference on its' own or will it just cause me problems without the dynojet & cans that I can't yet afford? Answers on a po...

I'm in. Mine failed with 9k miles on the clock. Got it fixed no probs cos I bought the extended warranty, but wasn't impressed with the inconvenience.....it just shouldn't happen that early on in the bikes life :x

You'll get to be on first name terms with your local petrol station forecourt staff! But apart from that, you'll need a surgeon to wipe the grin off yer face. :P

8O If the CCT does fail, as mine did, the bill for one cylinder is quite a shock! Mine went to Chiwick Honda in London, and was done under warranty. Being sad I got a copy of the bill for my records.....£550.00!!!! Ouch! :!: :!: :!:

Chiswick Honda

A week ago (Sun 20/07/03) the cam chain tensioner in the front cylinder went on strike...result= two very bent valves! The AA picked it up and took it to Chiswick Honda. They told me they had a lot on during the week ahead, and may not be able to fix it. When I explained that I was using the bike to...

RQ...I was doing about 40 or 50 mph, having just won round 6 of the traffic light GP. I thought I was running on one cylinder due to dirty fuel or something at first, then the noise got louder and more expensive, so I stopped and switched it off. Left it for a few minutes and tried to turn it over t...

Spoke to Chiswick Honda this afternoon....surprisingly it WAS the cam chain tensioner which failed. The cam chain skipped a couple of teeth, resulting in a couple of very bent (as in banana!) valves. Parts on order, warranty approved, and they hope to have it done by the end of the weekend....which ...

The bike is a Nov 2000 X-reg, which I bought from Chiswick Honda in April this year. It only had 7500 miles on when I got it, and I've only done about 2000 miles if that since I got it. They gave it the 8k service before I got it. The one saving grace so far is that it should all be paid for by Mr H...

Very broken!

Riding in to work this morning, the engine started making some awful clattering/metallic clunking noises, sounded to be from the front cylinder. It didn't sound too good, and sound like it might be terminal/expansive or both! Anyone got any ideas what might be wrong? I'm thinking cam chain or someth...
