I take it the conclusion is that the small ones are OK for a drop type situation, but that DHM's or similar are more use in a ooops I just lost the front at 60mph type scenario.

Tempted to weld on a better 'disc' to increase the area of the stand. Maybe it's just me/my garden!!! Thats exactly what the previous owner of mine has done. Nothing too big, its about 1 1/4" - 1 1/2" Diameter. Seems to be fine, but I always carry a 'MudMate' plastic disc as well. My mate...
