Re: Phone holder cradle with usb charging

Last update on the phone holder (which I’m still very happy with) I added a switch that controls the phone charger and a voltmeter. Made a backing board with sheet ali and after attempting to pairing it (and failing) I resorted to black vinyl wrap! I used the right clock mounting bolt as a fixture w...

Re: Phone holder cradle with usb charging

Evening chaps! Yes there is a rubber bung that fits snug in the socket, Tony. Gosh that’s rotten luck haha, maybe cover it with a plastic bag when it comes to wash time might help? Thanks Chris! I thought it was about time I gave something to the forum, albeit a small niche! I’ll have another little...

Re: Maiden voyage problems.

So after a little more thought and research, I’m thinking of trying a new used CDI, I will see if I can test mine first, but anyone know if all years were interchangeable? My bikes a 2002 :) Cheers I think I'm right in saying the later bikes like yours with the HISS ignition system have a different...

Well, given my love for AliExpress, I ordered this knock off of the ram x mount, with usb charger built in https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230530/8838d86164c3430324dbdbbe769292ee.jpg First impressions are good, not much to say, so lets get to running a cable! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2023...

Re: Maiden voyage problems.

I managed to get out for a ride today. New coils have not solved my problem :( I have a feeling it’s something to do with ignition advancing/retarding. I’m going to what systems the vtr use for this and see if I can test some parts. In more cheerier news, I’ve got my suspension settings dialled in a...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

After owning my vtr for about 2&1/2 months, I’ve pretty much got it running and looking how I pictured it! Think I have spent close to 100 hours (crazy I know) on the bike fiddling with settings, checking and replacing parts and cleaning! (It’s amazing how grubby a 50k mile bike gets when you go...

Re: Cheap seat cowls?

Not perfect but looks good for the money . Colour looks good too [emoji106] Yes! That’s one thing I forgot to mention. The colour match was very good. Not perfect but very good! Hell of a lot better than the colour matching paints I’ve been buying to repair my tail (hence why I resorted to making n...

Re: Cheap seat cowls?

So! After just shy of a month, it arrived! Please note I have never had a seat cowl so I have nothing to compare it too! First impressions are pretty good. Material seems ok, although it feels abit brittle at the attachment tabs underneath, they seem weak at the joints. I had to work out and drill l...

Re: Maiden voyage problems.

If you've not already seen this from the Haynes Manual: Complete with plug caps yours seem to be in spec on the secondary winding resistance  Ignition specs Haynes.jpeg If there were a problem with your OEM coils, leads or plug caps I would expect readings from the front and rear to vary, ...

Re: Maiden voyage problems.

Is this any help? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6hnL0Jn6w8&t=74s Chris. Unfortunately not buddy. I’ve tested them I just cannot find anywhere (including in the workshop manual) whether or not my readings are within spec or not! I think I will just buy a new set and see how different the read...

Re: Maiden voyage problems.

Afternoon guys,
I got around to removing testing the coils;

Complete (coil, lead and cap) they are measuring 17.5 and 18.5 kilo ohms. I cannot for the life of me find if this is within spec or not?

Any help would be much appreciated :)
