Re: First start in 10 years

Thanks 👍 Btw., is this the throttle responsiveness setting!? (See pic) If so, how does it work? I didn’t even look at this while I was cleaning the carbs, but have just read that it plays a part in tuning up, alongside TPS (which I did do) and the pilot screws.. https://i.postimg.cc/KRsmwX7R/2-DECF6...

Re: First start in 10 years

Great advice, Thankyou. They are 48 jets. I’m also studying a thread on here with sone good advice about how to recognise ‘peak rpm’ by ear. So, is the richer setting on the rear because it runs hotter due to being out of airflow?

Re: First start in 10 years

Thankyou Chris. Thanks for all your help. I’m currently making a special tool to adjust the pilot screws - hoping that might stop the slight grumble when I blip it. It’s as though there’s a very momentary fuel shortage, so it stumbles then revs fine again. Could it be a sticky valve? Any thoughts we...

Re: First start in 10 years

The whistle is normal. Fit proper cans and it won't trouble you😉 I have heard many that do make the whistle and also those that don’t. I was just interested in what it was? If it’s even possible to isolate one thing? Probably nothing I can do about it anyway. I think I just wanted to check that I h...

Re: Front brake line ‘Race’ set up

Yes I would do this, in fact I did send the rear one back as they had used the opposite handed banjo to the OEM set up, and it just didn’t work.. I naively thought that a kit specific to the bike would be correct..

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Today I have started it for the first time since basically finding it in a ditch. 6 months later an a full strip down/rebuild and it started on the button.

A very good day here..

Re: Front brake line ‘Race’ set up

Thanks all. I’m getting an idea what to do now.

Why do they always supply one out of 4 banjos with a straight end? To my mind, if this is for the dbl banjo then it looks a bit odd having one straight and one bent. It does work with both bent - at least then they follow the same pathway.

Front brake line ‘Race’ set up

Hi, I have new lines to do this. Would appreciate any pics/suggestions for those who have done this before. Which bits of the old mountings did you use if any. Which route did you run? Where to clamp the hoses? So far as a start point, all I have is that the dbl banjo is at the M/C and one of these ...

First start in 10 years

It started like a dream - after no more than 3 seconds it fired up for the first time since it was left for dead 10 years ago. What a beast! It does have a slight stumble sometimes when I blip it at tick over, but otherwise I’m well chuffed. Obviously not finished yet but she’s alive.., thanks in no...

Re: Petcock 😆 (kids found it funny)

😆😆

So is that the correct way then?

I was only questioning as I thought straight down was in direct line with the vac hose but where possible as a newbie I like to do it as Honda did it.

Dangerously near to actually running this bike..

Re: Petcock 😆 (kids found it funny)

https://i.imgur.com/wvhGDzf.jpg The one pointing down is a drain. If the petcock fails you might see a dribble from here. If you put the vac line on it the bike won't run. Hi Mac, I’m happy with which one to plug the vac hose on - I was just unsure whether it matters which way round you put the cov...

Petcock 😆 (kids found it funny)

Ok, super easy one today please folks. Pic 1 - can someone just confirm that the circular recess in the white plastic dish is meant to be showing here, as it’s for the spring to locate in? I’ve seen vids where they put it the other way around? Pic 2 - does the cover with the vacuum spigot go in this...

Re: Easy fuel one for 10

Presumably the clutch microswitch? Having never ridden one of these before owning it, I’m assuming this is the case ? (Could just short across the terminals, or is it a normally closed switch?)

Foam in airbox?

Evening all. The two little yellow triangles of foam were perished so I have ordered new ones, in case the density was critical. I didn’t want to just make my own. Could someone please explain their function though? I’ve seen them described as secondary air filters? Secondly, as air enters the box (...
