Re: Hi from Reading
If not already done (a job to tell from the photo exactly) you can fit a take off adaptor for the front cylinder to attach a hose you'll need when you wish to balance the carbs. So much easier to fit while you have the carbs off. The threaded hole is just below the righthand side of the front inlet...

Re: Hi from Reading
Oh, forgot to say the fuel tap flows fuel in the OFF position (which was an unpleasant surprise when I pulled a hose off the tank).
Bought a TourMax repair kit from eBay to hopefully fix it.

Into the gizzards :D Apart from the manual CCTs, checking the valve shims and changing the carb pilot jets to #48, any other jobs I should be doing whilst this far in? https://am3pap003files.storage.live.com/y4myofTsU0rFMjSfxlNdyaaOd-yT9W8aAEXpmxpQOW75P6XNyxyn7gXB-iV9gbPumt816Fi8h_Em4K5NjJDWQBiPhIpZ...

Re: Hello! I've bought stolen VTR1000F
If you don't want to replace the complete loom, the alarm can be removed quite easily. Find the main alarm unit, and then cut each alarm wire one by one close to the unit. All the wires will probably be black. If it starts squawking, keep going and then once free, put the alarm unit on the ground an...

Re: Hi from Reading
I've got a pair made by a former board member, now with 14k on them. I couldnt detect any difference in sound quality even at 'quite loose' :( Nor did I notice any difference auto (with savers) to manual and I'm usually tuned in to noises, hence my third go at the mainshaft bearing over Christmas, ...

Cheers, that helpsCommando77 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 3:10 pm I forgot to answer your question. Yes, aim for 6mm without leaning on it, just a medium effort total pull up/down.

Re: Hi from Reading
Decided to fit manual CCTs after reading all the advice on the Board. I'll be taking the cam covers off, as I want to check the valve clearances as well. I've read that chain slack should be set to between 5 and 7mm (once the timing is set at TDC on compression stroke). But also read that some peopl...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
Finished the sub loom for the mosfet reg . I didn’t use the maxi fuse holder in the end as I don’t trust it . I ordered 2 one to use and the other to take apart to see how it’s made . After removing the outer splash proof case the wires just fell out , it was only the glue holding them in place on ...

Re: Hi from Reading
Nice new nuts for those studs would set it off. Shame no-one makes stainless ones, at least, I've never seen any. It's an odd thread, M7 from memory, but I don't know whether it's standard or metric fine pitch. Yep, it's M7. I thought about buying some new OEM nuts, but the price was ridiculous 8O ...

You need to buy the 30A maxi blade fuse separately.
Plenty on Amazon though.

Re: Pissing fuel after standing for nearly 2 years
Sometimes it's just debris under a carb float valve.
Gentle tapping of the carb body sometimes clears it.
If not, it's a carbs out job and clean up, or new float seats and valves.
