Re: Almost Ready For Spring

You ain't kiddin...Those skinny forks always give me the willies no matter what bike they're on. Personally, I have no issue with their performance at all and if someone could show a weight savings on some USD setup I'd consider ditching the RSU's. Tactical note--last winter I rebuilt my forks and s...

Re: Bigger Bore Etc

Whether we admit it or not, I believe that to be the case with most, if not all.

Re: Home made flow bench

I took the manometer I made for balancing carbs and connected one hose to the spark plug hole with a barbed brass fitting. On the underside of the bench I connected my shop vac with a big fitting that neck up to the piston sized hole. Once you bolt the head down you turn on the vacuum and it pulls a...

Home made flow bench

Ok, so I took this idea straight from one of David Vizards books and I have to say it works quite well. There are some adjustments to be made but the principal works soundly. https://i.postimg.cc/Z9qtHPDV/KIMG0065.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/BPTV4tVj/KIMG0066.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/2VYtTF1h/KIMG0069....

Re: Bigger Bore Etc

Mos def not for prevention of hot air. The incoming air temp is fairly constant if all the other pieces of kit on the bike are in place. They can be tuned with the lid off etc., but without starting a war here...most people will agree that the lid needs to be on with the filter and divider in place ...

Re: Bigger Bore Etc

What that would indicate to me is that the flow increase would have been an increase in Velocity thus allowing the incoming air to draw more fuel through the main jets. Another possibility is that the tumble/swirl aspect in the combustion chamber is improved along with VE. If that were so, it could ...

Re: Bigger Bore Etc

Oh without a doubt it is sensitive. But...as you pointed out the airbox needs to be much bigger. The airbox is really an air capacitor and is drained far faster than it can be refilled. The key is getting the v-stack correct and this is fairly easy to configure. What I would do is use the intake tub...

Re: Bigger Bore Etc

"Actually if this is what you mean, which I guess it is, that totally makes sense now as to why you'd run the front cylinder with leaner settings: it runs with a slightly lower air pressure at the intake!" !!Yes, that's it...in a nut shell. "Big bang configuration, nice. Is it revving...

Re: Bigger Bore Etc

Oh for sure, without a lot of tuning it will not run right. The biggest thing is having both cylinders draw in at once starves the airbox. Ditch the box when twingled and get the jetting sorted. It'll fly after that. Totally different animal.

Re: Bigger Bore Etc

No offense taken mate, spirited discussions based on data keep this stuff alive and interesting. I'll post the hard data later this week. Also, I've run my motor "twingled" and runs like a demon with no ill effects. That's 180 out with no issues. This isn't surprising though when you blook...
