Re: Headlight improvements
It's definitely improved, but I could also be still a lot happier with it... might investigate a 55/100W or similar. I was adjusting the headlight as its been a while since I'd done that. However I'd never fiddled with the horizontal adjustment before, though found it doesn't really seem to do that ...

Re: Headlight improvements
Well last night I did a 130-mile ride in the dark and rain, a fair bit of which was on unlit A roads, so this was a good chance to assess how my headlight is now. As I said I have relays fitted but have changed to an Osram Night Racer 110 bulb now as well. What I've concluded is that my headlight is...

Re: Headlight improvements
"CB's headlight turns with the handlebars" Countersteering?? The CB's headlight turns with the handlebars whereas of course the Firestorm's doesn't, but I don't think this is it as obviously you don't turn the bars to go round corners. :D Thanks guys, I will ponder all this. I tried clean...

Headlight improvements
I've fitted relays to my headlight system which has obviously made it a lot brighter, but I still find on unlit roads that corners freak me out a bit in the dark if I don't know the road. My old CB500 ('98) only has a single H4 bulb as well, mounted in an old-school round reflector, but for some rea...

Re: How do 'you' know which cyl must be richer?
Been running a set of billet, equal length, stacks for around 10yrs.....while this requires re-jetting you still end up with the staggered jetting for best performance. So the "real world" testing has shown the different stack lengths make no difference to the jetting requirements on this...

Re: How do 'you' know which cyl must be richer?
My assumption was that it is because in stock form the rear cylinder has a longer intake trumpet, meaning that the rear cylinder produces more torque at lower revs than the front cylinder does, and vice versa at higher rpm, and that this particular tune likes a slightly richer mixture. I've always t...

Yup, the pattern repair kits are shite. I went through three before just buying a used complete tap for the same money.

Re: Adding TCW-3 oil to your gas
Just an interesting update on this. One of the claimed benefits of using TC-W3 as a fuel additive is reduced oil consumption due to improved piston ring sealing. I've been using it at a rate of 1:640 (ish - in reality I put 20 mL in a full tank) in my VTR and my CB500 for the last year or so. Now, b...

Re: Speedo weirdness
Hmmm, this issue is still ongoing. I've checked the points mentioned above. The odd thing is it's very intermittent. A lot of the time it's not there, then my speedo will decide to start going crazy. But it only seems funny above about 60 mph. The other day I was sitting at 80 and it was waving betw...

Re: Side stand touching exhaust
Thankfully I've sorted it, and I was being silly and not looking hard enough, just making an assumption. It wasn't banging the pipe itself, but rather the screw for the clamp for the left link pipe. I've rotated the clamp round to a different position and it's fine now!

Side stand touching exhaust
I can't see any other posts about this problem. I've just changed my exhaust headers and now my side stand touches the link pipe when retracted. The silencers are totally symmetrical when viewed from behind and there was no fiddling whatsoever needed to achieve this, so I don't think the header pipe...
