Re: Weird and slightly concerning coolant leak
Hi, I had a similar leak but only seemed to occur when the bike was warmed up. Same symptom of coolant dripping down over alternator casing. It turned out to be a pinhole leak in the expansion tank.... Tested it by removing and emptying, blocked off tube and cap opening, submerging in warm water and...

Hi, also check the breather hoses that go from the valve covers to the airbox. The front one is fiddly to get back on the airbox if it has been removed

Re: Jump start
Hi guys, I wouldn't have the car running. Some vehicles (like mine) have a calcium battery which I believe does require a slightly higher voltage to charge. That isn't really the issue though. If the bikes RR attempts to shunt and the car is running, the car will see it as a load and compensate. You...

Hi, did you check the slides to see if they had an extra lift hole drilled? Standard is just 2 lift holes plus the one the needle goes through

Re: She finally died.....
Hi 8541Hawk, Sorry for your loss, hope you get it sorted soon! You might want to also check your Thermo unit (37750-PC1-004) and/or earth wire to your thermostat housing as a failed thermostat alone (closed) should still result in high gauge readings. The sensor in your radiator is just for the fan ...

Re: Can I replace hiss for standard?
Hi Roly,
You can remove the HISS from the Storm but you need to find an American ECU (>= 2001) and do a few wiring changes.
Alternatively you could change to an older model (pre 2001) but that requires whole loom change.
HTH
Cheers,
Matt

I think people would move/steal your bike just to see it explode!

Re: Intermittant Coolant Leak, Clutch Cylinder Leak
Hey, mine had a coolant leak from the reservoir tank. It had the odd drop or two that I just couldn't find the source of after a ride. Then I got stuck in Sydney traffic on a 40 degree day and had the temp hovering around 130 at that time (made me sweat for multiple reasons!!) Got home and the LHS e...

Ouch CK! Go buy a lottery ticket! I wouldn't be as hard on you as TGBM but I would say given the RHS circumstances, riding someone else's bike just adds to the risk. But, no matter how well lit tunnels are, they'll always seem dark after being out in brilliant sunshine. That's the excuse I'd use ;)

Re: Disaster has struck. !!!!!!
Nice work! Good to see you didn't have to strip the LHS engine cover to get it out. Cleaned mine up earlier this year, packed with boot with grease etc. Also stole a tip straight out of my son's WR service manual - put a cable tie around the boot to help prevent any water getting between cable and b...

Re: Output Shaft Oil Seal Leak
Thanks tony.mon tissues, stains - this could go downhill fast! :D No need to apologise, I am my own worst enemy with things like this. The seal wasn't actually leaking, it did have some damage from a passing stone by the look of it. It all started when installing a Nitron shock. Ended up replacing t...

Re: Output Shaft Oil Seal Leak
Hi all, Thanks for the pics! I seriously considered taking the lip off the new seal and trying to force the old one out. Made a right mess of the old one trying to get it out - actually snapped the head of the screw off. Tried hooks, small pry bars etc. I even tried swearing at it - a lot. My impres...

Re: Output Shaft Oil Seal Leak
Hi, Sorry for the late reply, I've been overseas for the holidays and even got married. The wife was most happy when I deposited the engine on the kitchen table! Yep, that's the seal I have now fitted. Sorry, didn't take a pic but definitely has a lip on the OD that fits a groove in the crankcase ha...

Re: Output Shaft Oil Seal Leak
Oh crap! I tried this suggestion but it wouldn't budge. Upon inspection of the new seal it has a lip on the outer back edge which suggests to me that the engine needs to be split.
