The only major difference between the two is one fits inside the stock chin fairing and the other doesn't.
Also the longer one holds a bit more oil.
So no it will not damage anything running either filter.

No worries, at least you guys get what I am saying. Some folks just don't get it. As for changing the gearing, go for it. Just use either the +2 in the rear or -1 in the front (which equals around +3 in the rear) I ran the +2 for a while but with my set up now I'm back to stock gearing. What you do ...

I’ve just changed the gearing-1 on front +2 on the back pulls a lot harder now! Actually you have gone too far with your gearing change. I say this because when you do the math (don't hate me.... :lol: ) what you end up with is your 2nd gear is close enough to call the same as the stock gearing in 1 ...

If it is a "honking" noise it is usually due to the manual tensioners set too tight.

Apply vacuum to he petcock with either a mity-vac or just a piece of hose and some suction for a few seconds and let the carbs fill before you try to start the bike.....with dry carbs it will take a while just cranking it for the carbs to fill
