Re: Black Storm rising
Well. The VFR bars were gone... But thanks for the list. I had confirmed earlier that they would have been a correct fit. This should more or less go to the "what I have done today" section, but nevertheless. - One night spent on cleaning different parts, including the rear swingarm and li...

Re: Black Storm rising
Cylinder block arrived yesterday. Quite a difference. They really needed honing and this should improve the compression a lot. Now I need to start worrying about the piston rings. This weekend some serious cleaning of components and visual check for the pistons and then on Monday I will post the ord...

Re: Black Storm rising
I have been robbed! 105 euros for the honing of the cylinders... (and it took 2 months...) Well. Tomorrow I will get the cylinders back and then it is time to order new piston rings. Those should arrive in couple of days, so with excellent luck and lots of hard work (mainly getting my la...

Re: Hello from Finland
Welcome to Nordic section of the forum! Let's show next winter what real winter driving is about and get proper tires to Storm shall we? Something like this http://bikerpunks.com/mediaviewer/537/crazy-sportbike-ice-racing.html I say bad weather is only a bad excuse. (well, it will need some extra li...

Re: Busted Cam chain blown valves into cylinder...
Well, from the recent experience, the valves are darn expensive. They are I recall 40 euros, each. So you need to spend almost 100 for the valves only. Gasket is cheap. If you are lucky, you don't need any tooling for the heads, but if you do, that will add extra 100 to the cost, plus you need to ge...

Re: Which model?
Thanks Wicky, It seems to be older model. No luck there. I have tried now more than half an hour with forum search and google to find the list about which VFR (or other bike) bars/clip-ons will fit to the Storm and how high they are. I recall seeing a listing here (or through a link to the Superhawk...

Which model?
I just learned that one company got two VTR's for scrapping. So I am of course after some good bits and bolts. Which model of VTR is SC36A? Is it the later model with slightly higher handle bars? And do you think 40€ would be a relatively good bargain out of the clip-ons? And if it is the later mode...

Re: It's about time
Ah. Finally they have made upgrade to the old model. I wish I had money for the bike... The old one had 3 different radar warning systems and I believe one radar jammer as well... I believe the most known owner of Y2K bike is Jay Leno. I recall him saying that the bike was awesome with only one flaw...

Re: anti freeze
Try to download the workshop manual from the "knowledgebase". There are good instructions on replacing the coolant. Simplest way is to drain the coolant from the draining bolt from the first cylinder. Everything else will be messy. (you find the location from the workshop manual) I am not ...

Re: anti freeze
Worst case: your engine block is beyond repair because the ice has expanded it into two pieces. Or broken some other parts. Best case: nothing has happened. With good luck, the rubber pipes have expanded if the water has frozen. Or depending how cold is your cold? Usually couple of days -2C doesn't ...

Well...
You could get rid of the Öhlins sticker from the mud guard...
Or do they pay you for advertisement?

Re: Oooh, look what I found!
Damnation. The matt black paint looks really good. Usually I hate that color, but in this case your Storm makes me think about the one and only SR-71 Blackbird. And that is one seriously fast plane... Trust only black, it never goes out of fashion. Stay with black until they invent somethi...

Re: wheel bearings
I think I lost my marbles... Sorry, bearing balls during the Teutonic trip. I hope the damaged bearings didn't damage the rear wheel bearing housing but for sure I need to change the bearings. I will post soon some pics about the bearings for everyone to see how far you should not go with them (but ...

Re: Black Storm rising
Things are slowly rolling forward. I got yesterday the cylinder heads back from tooling. Nice and clean. But (there is always one isn't there...) since the valves are now sanded and two new ones are installed, I will need to adjust them with those small pellets. The difficult part is where to find o...
