I will get this sorted as this problem gets on my tits. But, will have to get some security torx bits first. I think I...

CUTTING OUT WHEN GOING TO IDLE SPEED
Sometimes my 2000 Firestorm cuts out when changing gear or slowing down to a junction. It only does it now and again but it is very annoying. It seems to do it when the engine is settling down to idle speed. It only did it twice yesterday in 140 miles. Other than that it runs great. Any help would b...

Re: Slow Starting Problem
They had overtightened the cam holder bolts by a long way. They should only be 21Nm

Re: Slow Starting Problem
Well, now all sorted. Starts easily. Theres a lesson to be learned from this, I will never use a bike shop again to do any work. I only put it in because I didnt have the time. I have 12 years experience as a vehicle technician and I only use garages when I am too busy or need something done in a hu...

Re: Slow Starting Problem
I have used some Loctite 270 on the threads. I am sure they did replace some shims as the bike was very top end noisey when warm. Due to the incompetance I have witnessed in this job, I think I will, as suggested, re-check the clearances tomorrow. I stil have the front cylinder to do. I did lift off...

Re: Slow Starting Problem
Dont want to risk riding further by taking it to the shop, I dont want to do more damage and its a 45 mile drive from my house (was recommended to me by a friend ). So, as I have little faith in people that repair vehicles for a living (apart from me), I will sort it myself.

Re: Slow Starting Problem
Well, im in the workshop right now and I think I have found the (worrying) problem. I stripped the necessary parts tonight to re-tension the CCT's. When I rotated the engine to check the timing, I found there were tight spots on the rotation accompanied by a moaning noise from the top end. I slacken...

Re: Slow Starting Problem
I think the same Cybercarl. I did threadlock the locking nut and used RTV silicon on the outside of the nut. I will have a play tomorrow and get back to you. Thank you for giving me a little time.

Re: Slow Starting Problem
Just had a look and starter connections look fine. There is no screech or noises when starting, which would indicate tight CCT's. I might just have to re-adjust the CCT's tomorrow after work and that might cure it. (Fingers Crossed and all that!)

Re: Slow Starting Problem
My bike has done 23k. It defiantley did need 4 new shims. It was very noisey at the top end before they were done (its now very quiet). The guy at the shop told me he had to fit the largest shim available on one of my exhaust valves. I did wonder if they had to disturb the CCT's when they replaced t...
