I have owned nearly 250 bikes since my 16th birthday and there are so many I wished I'd kept.
The two strokes obviously because they are silly money now. My Fireblades, my Z650's. But I really do wish I had kept my old storm:

Re: 20th anniversary meet 15th July Birmingham Motorcycle Museum
I'm travelling back from a family holiday on the 15th July so I can't make it. It sounds epic too. Would have loved to mingle and chat to all the other storm riders there.
I'm sure you will have a great anniversary meet fellas.

Re: Honda Cam Chain Tensioners - Life Expectancy From New
My Storm had new ones fitted by a dealer last April, but I have just changed mine to Manuals. I just didn't want to risk it. The job is fairly easy too if you follow the excellent guide on here.

Re: New Speeding Fines
And with more and more black boxes and other digital spying methods, you will automatically get your minimum 3 points and a fine and the first thing you'll know about it is that letter through the post. 1 mph over a speed limit and you get 3 points? That's a bit strong. Think I'll move to Cuba. :shi...

Re: Well here goes............fitting new MCCTS this week.
Well at 18:30 hrs GMT exactly (I'm a bit OCD with things like this  ) The tank was on and all connected. I used a little choke and turned the bike over with the kill switch still at off. No nasty noises. :p Then, with my youngest son shouting "do it Dad" I fired the beast into life ...

Re: Well here goes............fitting new MCCTS this week.
Well folks, at approximately 18:30 hrs tonight, the tank will be fitted and the Storm will be started. I have my wife and two sons standing by to stop me from smashing my head with a lump hammer if it all goes to ratshit. If it starts up and runs as normal I'll eat my TT beanie hat. :silent: :thumbu...

Re: Well here goes............fitting new MCCTS this week.
Well I have put the manuals on both cylinders now. About 6mm up down play. Putting it back together over the weekend. I just hope the tension is right. That's my main worry now.

Re: Well here goes............fitting new MCCTS this week.
I have realised that the other one is constantly under pressure from the auto cct. I have adjusted the manuals as per the guide here. Approx 6mm up play. Should be fine eh?

Re: Well here goes............fitting new MCCTS this week.
Right guys. I have the rear MCCT in and adjusted to what I think is 5-7mm up down play. I measured against a steel rule with MM side resting behind. With the chain pushed up it goes from 5mm (the mark thats level with the top of the chain) to the 11mm mark. So thats a play up of 6mm. But to me after...

Why can't we replace the honda spring with one that won't break?macdee wrote:if the spring breaks the cct will retract
its hard to push it back by hand but if you remove the bolt at the back and use a screw driver you can wind it back

Re: Well here goes............fitting new MCCTS this week.
Thanks for that guys. Yep, removing the whole bracket did the job. Just waiting for my MCCT's to come hopefully tomorrow. Have got the rear ready for the new MCCT. Cam wheels tie wrapped, all timing marks lined up. Quick silly question, but when I took the Honda CCT out it fully extended and does no...
