Fireman on a Storm
I did some work once for a champion dalmation breeder (yes, I did see all the cups, certificates etc. House had lots of 'em).
She told me some interesting facts.
They were bred as guard dogs. Actually, to guard against highway men (no, not the speed camera partnership). They were used to doing up to 80 miles a day running between the wheels of the carriages.
So she said if you aren't taking them out for at least two walks a day and covering between 15-20 miles they are going to get bored and start to tear up the place they are living in.......... or each other!!!
Glad you wanna be a) fit and b) are blessed with lots of time off every day then!!!

Awwwww... Waddacutie!
Fireman, is the dalmation a fireman thing? You gunna take him down to the station for photo shoots & let him ride in your truck?
My neighbours had a dalmation when we were kids & it went psycho all of a sudden with no warning. Never got walked to my knowledge, so maybe that was it. Tore the crap out of their youngest kid & then the father before it was put down. Sad, but I guess that'd be most big dogs stuck in a suburban back-yard.

If you ate yourself would you become twice as big or simply disappear?

The time off or lack of it is one barrier that stop me getting the dog.
When I'm off duty I'm either running the kids here there and every where or working (motorbike training or tiling/ other people's DIY) to pay for the kids!
Another reason for not having a dog is you have to be able to afford kenneling if you want to go away your self
VTRgirl you are right the Dalmatian is the traditional fire house dog in America (and a few other counties) There are still a number of station in the US that have a station pet Dalmatian that the crews look after.
I just like the dogs and have done since I was a kid way before the idea af being a fireman!
