Cam Chain Rattle?

Post by gippo »

Since my little beauty decided to cough and stall at the weekend (sound familiar?), there has been a noticable rattle coming from the from cylinder area.

My suspicions are pointing towards the camchain tensioner..I understand they can be quite fragile.

I've had the bike from new (2000 W) and its done just under 13k and been well maintained and treated. Upto now its been a superb bike, but I now have doubts about the reliability for the future.

Has anyone out there experienced the same problem and does anyone know if there is an upgrade of any type available to repalace the original units?

Is it an easy job to do and what sort of cost is involved (as a rough guide)
I intend to strip it down this weekend to try and find the problem.

Welcome aboard, Gippo. Just search the site for CCT (cam chain tensioners). It's about the most discussed topic (if you don't include complete drivel) on here. I'm in the process of adapting some Kawasaki CCTs for my storm. Seems like the go.

Good luck.
If you ate yourself would you become twice as big or simply disappear?
