Auto CCT from other bike

Post by V2humper »

Gents

I am a new owner of a lovely low mileage VTR.

Read about the problems with the original CCT and the option to install a MCCT.

But there are thousands of well working auto CCTs out there that don't need to be manually adjusted regularly.

Anyone who found an auto CCT from an other bike that fits on the VTR?

Cheers

I fitted manual adjusters after the bikes 3rd CCT failure, done about 30,000 miles since over 15 years. Haven't adjusted them yet.

All automatic cct's work well, until they don't. With almost all other engine designs, failure just means it rattles until it's replaced.

That's not the case with Storm engine designs, which can introduce the piston to the valves.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Yeah they don't need constant adjustment. If your paranoid check them every 10k but you'll bewasting your time.

As far as I know there are no others from different bikes/ makes that fit.

Honda fit the same part to lots of different models...they still fail.

Hi Thomas, I fitted my storm with a pair of mcct’s years ago ,I bought mine from American precision engineering they have a web site, with good service and I’ve had no problems since.

Guys

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like a fit and forget with MCCTs so that is what I will go for.

Safe riding and lets spread some great V2 noice.
