If it is a "honking" noise it is usually due to the manual tensioners set too tight.

Try slackening off one manual CCT very slightly if you can't tell exactly which cylinder the sound is coming from, then if it's still there when you start the bike try the same to other manual CCT. But you will need to do this each time when the bike is stone cold, because as you have noticed it only happens when the engine is stone cold as it starts. Try one M/CCT one day, and the second M/CCT the next day, like I say it won't need a lot of adjustment

its back a squeak or sharp noise it only lasts 10-15 sec im begining to think its the starter clutch , water pump orstarter motor i have heard the noise on other bikes
it doesnt look like the head gasket whistling as i cant see oil on the out side of the cylinder head and plug shows no water
oil glass clear of milky oil
i didnt rebuild rear head

If it is the transfer gears the noise will stop the moment you stop pressing the starting button. If it's the cam chain overtightened the noise will continue after you stop pressing the starter.

Also, if it's the transfer gears you will not hear the engine pumping through the exhausts, because the starter motor isn't rotating the engine.

The water pump won't make a noise; it just dribbles out of the overflow port in front of the engine on the right hand side, above but behind the starter motor. There will either be a small hole, or a 90degree open ended spigot poking out of the crankcase.

The easy way to check whether it's transfer gears or overtight cam chain, simply back the manual ccts off two flats, if the noise reduces or goes away you've identified that it's an overtight cam chain.if it makes no difference, it's the transfer gears.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Two coaxial gears pressed together forward of the alternator that join the starter motor to the engine. See my thread in the workshop knowledge base.

No, I only have a handful of spares left for firestorms, a standard flywheel is about the only sellable part.

Read the thread, you don't need to remove the top end, just the tank and airbox plus the alternator cover and lh side casing.
