Hi guys
First of all I hope you are all ok these days
Now, after 29 years on inline fours and singles (sport tourers and offroaders) I bought a 1999 Firestorm last summer. And I'm really enjoying myself every time I ride it - maybe I should have gotten into V-twins earlier :D
I have visited this great forum a few times earlier and am thrilled an humble about the easygoing tone and VTR knowledge here
And please excluse my english - I'm danish
So now I'll try and get this photo uploading thing working
Cheers, Martin

Hi, Martin. Keep on top of polishing those rims, did you do it or did it come like that?

Hi and welcome. Never seen that colour before, but I too am reasonably new to VTRs.

I share your story as a lover and owner of Fireblades for many years. (I have 3 at the moment with the new RR-R SP awaiting delivery which I can't get because of the virus lockdowns). Anyway, I purchased a 1999 Storm as a general runabout and like you, was hooked and wondered what the heck I'd been missing out on. So impressed was I that I sold it within 3 days to by the VTR SP-2. These are so underestimated as friggin' brilliant bikes, especially for those of us who prefer the older 'roomy' type of bike instead of the current crop which resemble mini motos!

And yes, keep those rims polished. I've had those on another Honda and to me they look the best.

Many thanks for the warm welcome guys :D

Tony.mon:
The bike already had polished rims when I bought it - in fact it was one of the things that won me over  . And I'm doing my best to keep them looking tidy. Otherwise it looks pretty much the way it did when I got my hands on it. I fitted the Renntec grab rail (quite elegant IMO) and a pair of mirror extenders (not so much, but they get the job done :eek2 ).
And here comes the tricky part, but you might as well get the ugly truth sooner than later: I refitted the std. end cans  .
The VTR came with a pair of quite loud stainless cans. I have no idea of the brand, the only insciptions on them are: NOT FOR ROAD USE. And living in a pretty cramped residential area, I made the boring, grown-up choice to go with the std. cans, so I won't risk having things thrown at me when I start my daily trek to work in the early hours of morning :D

Nigelrb:
I hope you will get your new blade home soon - I'm sure it will be worth the wait
And I can easily relate to your comment on roomier bikes. I'm 190 cm (think thats 6ft 2in) and have had my share of cramped up legs
Is that your SP-2 on your avatar pic? It looks out of the box new

Yes. Found it in January this year. Previous one owner with 4,500 miles. A true gem and a keeper!!
