As per the title really; just signed up and thought I'd post up the obligatory introduction :D

I bought my VTR, a (mostly) stock 2003 model, last Easter on a bit of whim. Fancied trying a twin after years of having inline fours, variety being the spice of life and all that. It's used as my daily driver so handles everything from the workday commute to the weekend fun and has been a mostly enjoyable bike so far (although a bit of a backfiring issue has been souring things for me a little).

Anyway, here it is:

Welcome to the forum.

Does it have std pipes and air filter? In normal set up there should only be very slight backfires on the overrun. If you are getting too annoyed with it there are a few of us in the midlands and we can have a look at it

Welcome to the club. Looks the same as mine, an F3. Has the PAIRS crap been removed as yet? Other than that make sure all carb/ exhaust joints are secure and balance carbs. That should reduce back firing.
Have the ccts, reg/rec been sorted?

Did you buy that chin fairing or was it there when you bought it?

Thanks for the warm welcome all

It's standard can and air filter, and the PAIR system is still fitted to the best of my knowledge. I might start a workshop thread to discuss the dirty details and pick the forum's collective brain.

The fairing lowers were on it when I bought it; the only thing I've added is a rear hugger (and fuel, lots of fuel).

Yeah, I'll have to try and get out for some outings at some point.

Cheers,
M
