Radiator paint issues

Mid way through my streetfighter project stripped the bike down to nothing.
Cleaned the rads grease free and given 3 coats of simoniz vht Matt black.. looked great.
Then applied 2 coats of promatic high temperature clear. As soon as I applied that it didn't look right.
Oven cured the rads and bubbled up looks awful the petrol cap hasn't been cured.
Any ideas how to save it?

Strip back and try again.
Or buy replacements?

What do you reckon wet n dry sand then recoat? Starting to think the laquer reacted with the other paint

Are you sure Simoniz vht Matt black paint is meant to have a lacquer top coat

Yep that's reacted. You may have got away with it by giving the VHT a very light dust coat to begin with and building the thickness up slowly....very slowly. Lots of light dust coats and allowing to dry before going on with a thicker coat. And sticking it in the oven with the Matt Simonz wasn't the best idea. I would't even bother with VHT on rads as they don't get that hot nand VHT paint can be very hit and miss depending on brand and how it's aplied.
The best stuff you can use is the following but it's not cheap.

Rub back with wet n Dry using it wet and start again. The fual cap should have had a coat of etch primer first as it's bare metal or was bare metal.

After bit of wet n dry and 4 more coats of simoniz got a better finish.. however I'll definitely be using frosts etching primer and vht on the engine!

Now that is a lot better
What part of the engine are you intending on painting. Etch primer is only for bare metal. VHT is bloody awful stuff you can get an engine enamel that does a good job.

thankyou ! The whole thing really, planned to strip the bike down again take the engine out give it a good clean and rub down then spray.. Any advice would be appreciated.. zero painting experience impart from warhammer when I was 6!
