Sleep or not sleeping well. Severe tiredness.

Post by RedStormJ »

So I will start this out by saying Ive been to the doc but I am not in the best shape for a soon to be 27 year old.
I got something going on with my lower back. I smashed it once. Finally going for an xray next monday. This been going on for years.
an at least 5 year old sinus infection that the doc here gave me antibiotics for that didnt work with the last 3 doctors...
Cronic dry eye and dandruff...

Dunno if they are connected but I have always had sleep issues. I used to not go to bed until the sun came up sometimes. I still cant sleep right after work not for at least 5 hours. I wake up around 10 11 or 12 every day. I go in by two PM. Work until about 10 sometimes 11. I get out and go to bed at around 1 2 or 3am mostly.
I try to keep my times similar and have tried to go to bed earlier but its like I am fully charged around then.
The big problem is after 8 to 9 hours of sleep sometimes I wake up and feel horrible stiff dried out. I either fall back asleep for four hours or get up for an hour and go back to bed in my work cloths.
Its the big reason the VTR still has not had her carbs balanced. I just dont want to move. Hell it was sunny and nice out for once and I didnt leave the bed all day. I dont even work out anymore.
Diet is as good as it gets here. A bit too much fried stuff. Its just the local thing. I try to eat good beef and chicken every cance I get. but veggies arent real popular at home. Mostly onions and cabbage....
We live at home so its not like its dead silent in the morning around 4 am feet pound on the floor but I cant say nothing because its her parents house. Buying a falling down one soon and renovating it.
But all that considered I just dont think I should be worn out every day. I have slept up to 12 hours on a tired day. My body didnt give me a choice. I almost went through out coffee table the other day sleeping on my feet.....
Anything is appreciated. Even some ribbing. I am worried about this because I spent years in the army with little sleep and I always had energy to work on my car or hit the gym. or play haanky panky with the local girls. Im not that old. I swear my 78 year old buddy has more energy...

Can't help you with sleep, but tiredness is often related to low iron levels. Might pay to get your blood tested, and it is very easy to get iron supplements at a pharmacy.

get your blood tested, might be connected to liver.

And you can try not to eat anything at least for 24 hours and drink water only - to see if it get better or not. Without knowing anything, too much sugar (refined, not in fruits), too much salt, too much alcohol, and prefabricated food are obvious suspects.

Just ideas, I am not religious healthie or something, get your body tested somehow at first ...

If you've had an ongoing chronic sinusitis for 5 years - best get that addressed as well (may need to see a specialist), as if your body is fighting a war against bacteria then that'll take it out of you. Plus with the proximity of sinuses in the skull to a rather important organ if the infection runs a bit more ramapant it won't do you much good in the long run...
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Work until about 10 sometimes 11.
Being wired and taking 5 hours to wind down after work is normal. Do you do shift work with an irregular sleeping pattern? What you describe minus the sinus stuff sounds very much like myself. I have a very irregular sleeping pattern and can easily fall asleep once the first plane fly's over in the morning and it starts to get light along with the birds whistling. At times it's easier to stay up than go to sleep as there is no struggle to get up in the morning LOL What doesn't help is coming in late from work and then putting the tv and computer on. Technology keeps us awake but then sometimes there is no choice as there is no other time available to catch up on things because we all work too many hours. After all there is more to life than work.

This may sound counterintuitive but have you tried sleeping less. Sometimes oversleeping can make us feel more tired and groggy with no get up and go. Get less hours a night/day for a few days and see how you feel along with maybe one night/day a week where you get a full 8 - 10 hours sleep. This sounds like a typical shift work sleeping pattern to me. It's real important to get some kind of regularity, a routine for our internal body clock so try to get up at the same time every day, even if you don't get in until 12 and go to sleep by 4, still get up at say 8 or 9 o' clock. You can always catch up the next night with an earlier night if work allows or catch up with a full 8- 10 hours on the weekends or whenever you day off is. I know it's difficult as I go from no sleep to too much sleep and it is very draining on the body. I used to spend all day and all night awake for a few days until I started hallucinating and the mind starts playing tricks. I worked out that I required a minimum of 4 hours kip to get by on. The funny thing is I felt more energised in the day and got more done than if I slept for 8 - 10 hours. Experiment with your body and find what works for you.

I bet if you worked a 9-5 job and got in at the same time everyday, had some food, watched a bit of tv or whatever, then went to sleep and got up at the same time the next day things would be diffrent. You need routine.

Note if you do feel there is some deeper issue at stake here health-wise then do speak to your doctor. Just don't accept sleeping tablets from them as that can make things worse  This is the problem with quacks (GPs) these days. 10min appointment times, if your lucky and then fob us off with some pills.

Vtr Dark. Your posts always are right on the money. I will see a good doctor not a quack.
What you describe in your post is and has been my life the last few years. only thing now is I cant stay up or I do things like fall asleep on the VTR. That was the worst time I ever had. I fell asleep mid lean in the rain. I must sleep with my eyes open because I woke up and jerked left thinking I was going to go off the road by the time I took control back I realized I had been going straight for a good few seconds.....

I dont even ride when I am like that now BTW. I just borrow the car. Right now I am hitting my peak awake time. I CAN NOT SLEEP and its 12AM.
Im going to put the laptop down. or maybe I shouldn't as usually I get out of work just before now. I am quitting this crap job by the way. My teaching company is finally taking off.
