Sportbike Performance Numbers
Sportbike Performance Numbers
I often come across this page & thought some might like a read.
Even after all these years the VTR still holds its own & is only a second or so slower than much newer machinery to 125mph & hardly any beat it on midrange roll-ons.
Not too shabby at all really

They don't have CBF Times as they are embarrassingly fast. My mates hates me whizzing past his Tuono with all the Luggage and the Mrs on
missing the noise, not the vibes. However never say never!
Re: Sportbike Performance Numbers
I've always maintained that in fast road riding the Storm takes some beating. Virtually as fast as anything else up to 3 figures speeds and unless you are on a track how often is it practical to ride faster than that for an extended period? Still love mine after 16 years plus of ownership, but I've also bought a R1200RT for touring because that's what it is designed for.
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!
Re: Sportbike Performance Numbers
For real world roads and riding mine does everything i need and can still make newer stuff look silly with a bit of effort
the older i get,the faster i was

Power Torque ¼mile top speed
CBF1000 102 @ 6000 71.5lb ft @ 6500 11.8sec 134mph
VTR1000 103 @ 9000 71.5lb ft @ 7000 10.9sec 155mph
the above were both taken from http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za
Re: Sportbike Performance Numbers
I never believe those 1/4 mile figures, as they never quote how full the luggage is or how much the passenger weighs.bazza696 wrote:CBF1000 102 @ 6000 71.5lb ft @ 6500 11.8sec 134mph
Total waste of time
Re: Sportbike Performance Numbers
That's just the rider, not 2 up or with luggage.
the firestorm would never get to those figures cause you would struggle keeping the front wheel on the ground with luggage and a pillion, I have tried it and couldn't keep up with a Ducati 900SS, had to trail the rear brake to limit the power otherwise I would have flipped it.

Depends if the pillion is sitting on the handlebars. If they had of been, I think you'd of won against the Duke

The storm was always good off the line but with a lightened flywheel and 2 tooth bigger sprocket i couldn't help but wheelie it. It was fun though. The CBF is plenty pokey enough. It just so comfy, i like the linked ABS brakes too. Yep it aint no looker but very underrated i think. with 10,000 miles on it. Roll on times are pretty good. it just seems to go from about 1500 revs. it ridiculously smooth too, gearbox is peachy.
i even prefer it too my fazer 1000. However I've still not yet got used to the pegs touching down all the time. it will be a keeper providing the wifes keeps going on the back.

990 Duke, is probably the best bike for that but the storm is good. I do miss the v twin thing but the fingers can't hack the vibes for longer than 15 mins these days. Some IL4,s do have the same effect. Kwaks seem to vote with an annoying Buzz. The CB and CBF are fine.countrymick wrote:country roads, the storm carnt be beaten.

Not got my Honda X-11 there either, but then again most people don't know they even existed
I had some guy recently trying to tell me his Hornet 900 was faster than a Honda X-11, then getting really abusive when I posted up the MCN guides to the bike

Bloody hell, how'd you manage that? Do they know about each other? Or fight for turns on the bike?wifes
