wheelies.. why do i go left or wobble?

Post by roasty_duck »

any ideas?

sometimes i can do mega wheelies.. but most of the time i always end up going left or have some weird major wobble where the back wheel goes left and right, the only way to really cure it is to ride it out and hope it stops...

similar to this just not as violent

wheel bearings are under 1000 miles old.

chains not slack and adjusted right.

mostly happens in 2nd when i throttle chop and pull up before switching into 3rd

maybe cush drive rubbers, but I doubt they'd effect it, are you lob sided by any chance?
would the rear suspension linkages cause this?

It's the front cylinder getting starved of oil so gets all wobbly and little faint when hungry. :biggrin

if your lofting them as high as that profile pic whilst sat down, it could just be a wobble... I guess from bumps etc. trying to compress the shock but everything being at the 'wrong' angle. Rather than having a nice pivot point to act against, the whole bike will be moving up and down a bit more, throwing it off to one side slightly.

Speaking as someone who can't do wheelies (but has seen plenty), using a rear peg might help get some weight over the back, so it doesn't have to be quite so vertical for balance point.

That could all be lies, but it seems reasonable to me!

Or even a block of wood on the back to stop you flipping over?

I have a similar problem, I just can't get my head around why this happens whilst impressing the kids.

I just can't understand why it flicks to the left either.

Any help welcome, I am running 28psi in the front & 25psi in the rear. I was thinking of dropping the forks a little & slightly raising the rear pre-load.

the first little one in this video goes left a bit but not too bad, the 2nd was pretty much perfect though.

so its not every time it seems hit and miss

My thoughts exactly. Too late now as it's been uploaded. What goes on the net stays on the net...somewhere. I'm sure youtube (google) have to keep a copy of content uploaded for a certain amount of time by law.

Your just showing off now  Couldn't see much as your mate with the camera couldn't keep up. Your number plate has been seen not that it makes much difference but it makes things a little easier. Maybe a bit of forensic imaging software will show it up even clearer for those that think having a blurry plate in the distance helps. Be careful posting stuff like this as plod do look through places like youtube and folk have been known to have been convicted from their own content. It's not too clever having the timecode on the camera either as this then ties you to to a time and place that can be used against you. Now if I was a copper and happened to recognise the road your on I could then check the local cctv for that time and date and grab your number plate there too. It wouldn't be too difficult would it.
