So after 3 years of pain in my ankles and no successful treatment the next step will be having my ankles fused so my question is have any other members had this done and how does it affect riding.

I know I will have restricted movement and the next year will be tough but the end result has to be better than constant pain ..I think lol

Not had personal experience Gaz but a mate has had a lot of ankle problems after t-boning a car pulling into a petrol station in front of him. He had a Varado (Varadero?) for a while which had a whole-foot rocker type gear change but is considering changing back to a sports bike with the gearchange lever swopped to the other side using a bit of mechanical jiggery-pokery!

Not me but my partner. She had a big off in 2012. Smashed pelvis, hip etc etc.

Is her left ankle that was done. But it took them ages to do it. So she was in pain for that time. I bought a custom hand gear shift for her then Hyosung(AKA Crap). I could never get it to work. We tripped over a 600 Hornet with a much better gearbox. Now she uses her toes to shift in a much more normal way. the Honda gearbox suited this. When she gets tired to upshift she lifts her whole foot. So don't forget the foot is not rigid. Cant see the rear brake being to much of a problem. You will probably need flexible boots. So it all ends up being a new normal.

Fit a quickshifter, can be costly but should help altogether.
