My poor Storm :(

Hello guys,

Just arrived home from work to find that my Storm has blown over in storm Imogen and her 96mph winds... The left hand exhaust now sits a little closer to the bike than the right, and both my front and rear fairing are cracked (see pics). Does anyone know if the plastics can be repaired or if they need to be replaced? I'm absolutely gutted. Turns out my storm proof cover has acted as a balloon and knocked the bike off and over its stand.

Ouch! Looks like you've got all the bits which is good. For first aid drill the ends of the cracks to stop them spreading and get some duck tape to apply over the damaged areas to keep it all intact.

Depending on your DIY skills you can have ago at repairing the damage and repainting it to get it back to how it was, or if you're not confident locate a specialist plastic repairer near you.

Thanks guys, absolutely devastated... It's heartbreaking when you spend time making something look nice, buy an expensive cover to keep the rust away as best it can and then have that very item cause so much damage. Cover off until the wind dies down. The bike next to mine was fine, but he had his cover tight to the bike where as mine acted as a wind trap. I've looked at the options above, and the repair looks doable. Seems like a big job though, and I don't have the luxury of a garage to work in. Might get a quote from someone for repair, I'm sure the exhaust bracket is just bent and that should be easy enough to straighten out. At least it still runs thought right!

Never trust any cover in high winds .
Sorry to see another fall victim to this.
Hope you get it sorted

I know Llyodie. I've got a garage sorted for next winter, its a couple of hours ride away though but will be safe and dry there. I've only just moved, and the bike is now literally in view of the sea where as before I was a couple of blocks back. Didn't even think the cover would do that, even readjusting it this morning after it had ridden up a little. Saw loads of bikes knocked over today and thought mine was safe. Thought we was pretty much through the worst now so didn't take my cousin up on his garage offer! A decision that will cost me! What's the worst? 200?

Might be worth a repair or a Chinese replacement set .
I seen my blackbird rocking on the centre stand at work today . All the other bikes had fell over .
Think the only reason mine didn't was I parked it facing in to the wind and all the others were side on .

Don't lose interest in the Vtr as its a great bike even when they look a little broken

Yeah, I've emailed a couple of local repair shops with the photos and requested a quote. Hopefully it shouldn't come out to high. Think in the future I need to keep an eye on the weather and whip the cover off before the storm hits. Maybe a few bungee ropes could help keep the cover on the bike and stop it filling with wind! Nothing will put me off though, love the bike and these things happen right!

rotten luck mate. hope you can get it sorted. :(

the bloody wind whipped the back door of my one month old vivaro out of my hand so hard it has bent the panel/pillar. wont cost me anything (works van) but is going to be inconvenient.

pretty flimsy really .

That's a shame...
Mine blew over once; I found that using bungees to wrap the cover to the fairing, seat and keeping it as tight as possible stopped it happening again, if you bungee round the gap between front wheel an under the belly it allows the wind to run through the bike, under and round, rather than acting as a sail.

Worth doing if you're going away fora few days in case the wind picks up after you've left

Looks like you just missed this bargain set of bodywork just down the road from you in Worthing.

Would have need spraying to match your colour + decals.
