New Guy from Australia

G'day folks,
My name's Rohan, and I'm from Victoria Australia.

I have recently picked up a blue 2003 firestorm, with 20,000km on it for what I think was a bit of a steal!
So far it runs fantastic, looks great after having it detailed the other day, and I've loved every minute I've spent on it.

I have come from a CBR600, and really the only thing i miss about it is how easy it was in the bends - the firestorm feels much less responsive through the corners to me.

I have joined up here because just about every search I have done for information and advice about the bike has lead me here anyway, so I figured I would cut out the middle man.

Cheers
Rohan

Not currently, its been 3 days of rain! A time when all good Storms are snuggled in the garage under a cover :)

Welcome Rohan, Glad you picked up a Storm with such low k's
As far as the differences between the CBR600 and Storm... sure, they are obvious.
But wait until you get a handle on the Storm, you'll be surprised what you can achieve :)

Don't forget the good ol Aussie forum too mate http://ozfirestorm.proboards.com/

It almost died a while ago, some brilliant info there also with links that are more relevant to AU purchasers

Yeah, if I'm honest the bike has grown on me very quickly.

Salty Dog - Thanks for the PM, I cant reply to it yet as my account doesn't have that sort of access though.
I'm from Mildura in North West Victoria.
I have ordered an 6mm shim to hopefully help out with cornering a bit easier - I'm very keen to see how much difference it makes.

I can live with or without the shim.

My bike has it, my friends storm doesn't, we ride nose to tail on the Ocean Road, and he has much faster tip in speeds than me.
Mostly because he is nuts though :)
Mildura... Where do you ride for twistys up there?

Twistys are very close to non-existent up here - there are a couple of spots out in the farming area's but once you've done them once or twice the novelty really wears off.
Used to live Warrnambool, much better riding down that way - Great ocean road is fantastic, with the exception of the odd tourist coming at you on the wrong side of the road!

Keep in mind this is exactly as I bought it - I think it is pretty well stock standard at the moment

Looks great, just as you'd expect for a bike thats only done 20k :)
Can we ask what you pick it up for? Price i mean.

In all honesty, i think the FIrestorm from 2003 to 2005 represents the best bang for buck road bike Australia has to offer.
There simply isn't another bike, that can do what the Storm does, for the price and reliability.
I have seen these bikes for $3000 and less (but they are trashed generally), i have seen some mint examples for $4500 for an '05 with new tyres with 50,000k's, mine was $5000 for an '04 with 22,000k's.

If these bikes had come standard with USD Forks and better rear shock, they would still be weapons today :)
