Job offer to fit manual ccts
Job offer to fit manual ccts
Hi. I seen the work through to fit the manuals. Even though it's sworn to be easy I'm still a bit nervous about doing it myself. Would anyone like to take this job on for me? Happy to pay a couple of hours rate? I am in newport, South Wales. My local indies are booked up for weeks and the honda dealer dealer don't want to even do them.
The biggest job I have ever done is to change a rocker cover gasket on a bmw e46. I managed to rip off the heads of 3 bolts whilst tightening. So not a good idea for me to try on my bike.

I'm sure someone local to you will put their hands up soon to offer help. Even if it is just to stand over your shoulder offering advice/laughing/taking the piss or whatever. If your offering to pay them to do it that's a different matter.
Whilst it does seem a daunting task if you follow the instructions posted on here it is a fairly simple & straightforward job.
I'd come over but it's a good 400 miles or so round trip...
I'm hosting a workshop day next weekend your more than welcome to come along, bring a tent with you & stay over...

So anyone out there not to far from Newport can help...???

Hello Mate
I have done this and I was similarly apprehensive, but I just took my time, checked everything time and time again. Even when I found that some numpty had previously not set up the cam position/timing correctly when the replacement autos had been fitted, all was not lost. Lots of advice, information and guidance from the forum and off we went. I still need to refit carbs and newly painted tank etc, but all the 'skilled' work is done.

I have change gearboxes in cars
points, plugs and oil changes
prop shafts,springs
I have had carbs off bike
but still I feel the same about cct`s and valve clearances
I think its because it`s my pride and joy
and I`m getting old

It's a easy job after you've done it once .
I'm happy to do it with you if you fancy a ride over
Lube, no lube, it's your choice .

There's a fair few forum members in Cymru. I'm sure there will be help on hand.
It's the timing and confidence issue that puts people off having a go at doing cct's. It's like a mental wall that some people hit and makes things sound more complicated than what it is. And then there is that nervous push of the starter button at the end. I can understand for people that are not mechanical minded it seems rather challenging going into the unknown and all that.
shahwales have you considered a stopper mod instead of manuals. It require less work with less stripping down of the bike.

I thought the stopped mod was the same as in stripping down and taking out the ccts:|cybercarl wrote:There's a fair few forum members in Cymru. I'm sure there will be help on hand.
